19 years and counting

I was going to post this a few days ago but schedule and unforeseen events kept me from posting.

As of December 7, my wife and I have been married for 19 years and still going strong.

While I have not been in the civilian sector of aviation, I was in Army aviation when we met and it's where I remain today. In short, I found one in... some astronomical number. :D

Congrats, Top! No small achievement. Doubly so for your two, given the state of the world.. and the military life. Bravo to you both.

Congrats! Married on Pearl Harbor day, huh. Just curious...did she set the date or did you?

I wonder if they got bombed at the ceremony. Hyuck!

Well Actually the Army picked the date for us. To make a long story short, I was supposed to be on pass/liberty/off of work for 4 days, get married on the beach in Carmel, CA and live happily ever after.
A training mission for one of the infantry brigades come down, was going to last 6 days, and my platoon sergeant said that he had cancelled my pass.
We changed our wedding plans and the date in the matter of about 3 hours. I got married in front of UH-60A, 82-23444, in the hangar with a great bunch of friends and little family. I wore my finest flight suit while my wife wore her slightly less than best dress. The ceremony lasted about 35 minutes after which I walked my wife to the car and told her I would see her in the morning and she went home. I walked in the door the next morning (about 0430) to a cup of soup and a glass of ice tea. After all of what the week had entailed she was willing to make something warm to eat and cold to drink when I got home.
I never told her, that night while flying the mission, we almost flew right up the tail rotor of the aircraft in front of us. We were all flying NVGs in a formation of 10 Blackhawks and confusion with ground lights can be a serious thing… Almost married and widowed on the same day.
So, as you can see one in… some astronomical number. :D

Nick, I am currently with 1ID and fellow FI/SI. We may know some of the same people. J. Cody? I also did some time with Savage troop in 2 ACR.

Thank you all.

Cody doesn't ring a bell, Christopher Lillbridge ring any for you? Randall Phillips? last name, Merchant? ah well I didnt get to change units while I was in. I stayed with the same unit for the whole time which blew because of the deployment rotations, I would have enjoyed seeing more of the world by PCS'ing.
