135 to 121 and back to 135

and if anyone is wondering...Flexjet is hiring at least 100 pilots through next year for the growth (very very little attrition) were getting a bunch of Embraer Legacy 450 & 500's, Challenger 350's and 40 Gulfstream 450/500/650's

apply via the website

They do the same thing as NetJets, as far as home basing right? I know it's not necessarily "home basing" but a list of approved airports right?

correct, there is a list of "approved" airports i believe it's around 45 airports, but essentially if you don't live in the sticks, you'll be good to go (base pay is 64,900...plus bonuses/per diem/overtime, you will clear 70K your first year and upgrade is around 2-3 years)

Nice! I'm guessing SAT and IAH are on that list? What is a typical work shift like?

yes, of the 4 in my class...2 of us are Dallas, 1 Fort Meyers and the other is Austin.....we all are allowed to be based where we live...so yes I bet SAT and IAH are on that list

After years of trying with networking and a few job fairs...finally got the call and a class date

Challenger 350 with Flexjet

Two years ago they parked a Challenger in a hangar at Chino. Should have used the big door.

What kind of schedules does this kind of flying entail? (My wife is convinced that 135 flying means I'll be gone (once I have the time) for 3 weeks at a time.)

My buddy just got hired with Wheels Up. He's based in Chicago and his schedule is 8 days on 6 days off. If that helps any...

they use an in-house built PBS style system called FlexBid.

There are 13 periods of 28 days per year and the average pilot works 15.5 days of that period.

minimum is 14 and maximum is 18 days on duty.

You bid for what days you want off, so a typical schedule might be 4 on 3 off, 6 on 5 off ,5 on 3 off OR you can combine them 8 on 6 off, 7 on 6 off

*we don't do pre built schedules like netjets*

(also for vacation they give you that week plus 4 days on each side so it comes out to be 2 weeks each time)

that being said I just finished my type and haven't started IOE much less having bid yet...

hope this answers some questions

Yeah definitely had nothing to do with flexjet... My buddy lost his job thanks to the sharp guys at the controls that day...

Thanks guys. I kind of figured it was a rotation like this. My friend who left aviation worked for a pretty crappy operator out of PA and all the stories she would hear about would be that he'd be on the last day of a trip, then get re-routed to go take someone to the Bahamas, and end up extended for another week. All the while his wife at home with 4 kids under 8. So now in her mind, 135 charter means I'd be gone all the time...

not anymore...these can and are career places for people....very little attrition at Flexjet (less then 1%)

plus they have to get you home by midnight on your last day.

I'm in my early 30's and plan on making this my final spot (of course unless something drastically changes), you can make very good money here FO's make between 70-110K, Captains 110K-200K+ and with all the growth upgrade is 2-3 years as of now.
