I do think using VATSIM helped me become comfortable on the radios however I do not try to take anything from the sim and say that well I've done it here so I can do it in RW. The two (sim vs. RW) are very different and it annoys me when Virtual Pilots say that since they fly the 777 in the sim...
hambone, I take it you didn't like FIT even when you were a student there! It sounds like you got an Aero. Science degree, I'm not even looking to get a degree like that.
Sadly, most places are that much anyhow today and actually UND would be cheaper for me than a state school.
No one at age 17...
Thanks again! I'm still going to look into an Aviation Meteorology Degree (keeping all options open) but am also going to see if there is an FBO near a college that may not have a Flight School at it ex. Catholic University of America is one of my top schools and Dulles FBO at Manassas airport...
Thanks for the replies! I've also been looking at an Aviation Meteorology Degree, would this be a little bit better than Av. Management? The weather does fascinate me
Ok so this is a little about me - I'm currently 17 and just finishing up my junior year of high school. I've obviously been looking at colleges and my future and I'm between pilot, controller, management job in aviation or high school teacher. A year ago I was 100% set on becoming an airline...
I'm also in a similar situation so I'm as well curious to see the responses here :). Especially an Aviation Management degree, I wouldn't mind working in the aviation industry but people say that the AvManagement degree is useless.
Hope I didn't thread hijack!

I've been looking at this place for flight and possibly only a flight minor to get a degree in something else. Any alumni/current students on here that can shed some light on the program/ training and the school itself?
Thanks!
The Purpose of this trip was to visit Purdue University.
Flight #1: Delta Connection Flight 6484 Operated by Comair
KPVD-KDTW
Aircraft: N868CA - CRJ100
Seat: 10A
Flight Time: 1hr 40mins
Had a 20min connection in DTW from C5 to A11, if you are familiar with DTW, you gotta run. I snapped this...
Well they said the 172 is harder to fly since the CRJ is all automated pretty much. They told me also to enjoy the 172 (which I do) since the 172 is flying at it's core.
Here is my trip report from PVD-MSP-GFK
Flight 1: DL5887 Operated by Compass Airlines
N***CZ - E175
KPVD-KMSP
Load Factor 90%
Arrived at the airport around 4:30am, went through Security no problem. Left at 6:10am and arrived on time at MSP. Friendly crew showed me some of the E175's FMC...
Wow, you sound a lot like me! Although anytime I board an airplane I can't stop looking at the flight deck and always go visit after we park at the gate.
For me, I don't really know...I've always loved airplanes and one of my friends dad was a private pilot. I remember playing Flightsim 98...
When are you going? If you can deal with LAX, Air Canada is $485 roundtrip going LAX-YYC-YXE-YYC-LAX. Aircraft on LAX-YYC is E190 and it's a CRJ operated by Jazz to and from YXE. If you fly from SNA to YXE it's going to be $1200 roundtrip going SNA-DEN-YXE-DEN-SNA on United/Air Canada.
Now if...
