Garmin auto land saves King Air

Are we seriously talking about airplanes right now? Aren’t we supposed to be on topic of Teslas??????
FEAR! BE AFRAID OF ROBO PLANE!

There. Does that help? But, like, even though I'm not driving them around any more I still actually really like airplanes, I like learning about them, thinking about it, etc. Pilot brain go "brrrrr."

But in all seriousness, to come back to this, having let this percolate in my brain over the weekend, @Roger Roger - when I was driving both around I distinctly remember being relieved if I was going someplace technical in the Garmin machine rather than the Honeywell Machine. It was "cool" but like, UI/UX of the Garmin boxes was way better for that kind of stuff - I mean, you could do it, but in terms of speed and convenience (especially when sucking gravel through the props on the ramp), I think a pair of touch screen garmins was superior. But that might just be preference on my part.

That said, the screens on the Apex were better, and arguably a lot more "bush friendly" than the old tubes? But the "computed airspeed from AoA" was inferior to the little needle with raw AoA information, although that's really just preference, in all actuality they weren't really that different in regard to that. Worth mentioning that if you had synthetic vision on the honeywell then that's a different story - we only had that for a little while.

Maybe I just don’t know the glory of Garmin

I'm not really a Garmin fanboy. The 530 and 430s of my youth are just straight up "bad" interfaces - they're better than KLN90B but only just? But the newer Garmin stuff last I was using it was pretty cool. G1000 kind of sucks in some ways but is amazing in others? The screen was huge compared to the Chelton - but it was less capable. I don't know, give me dat Chelton any day of the week for that kind of work? Just make the screen bigger I guess? But if you're stuck with a non-synthetic vision PC12 (or honestly, even with it some times) the Garmin 650 / 750 combo is pretty awesome, I'd even say "better" than the Apex if the Apex isn't the cool one with synthetic vision.
