Announcement Ending 05/02

I wonder if a lot of controllers are walking away after they gave them a 30 percent pay cut. I would.

The old controllers are still on the old pay system. They only get on the new pay system if they switch facilities. So most of the older controllers are staying exactly where they are--there's no incentive to go to a higher level station. This is one reason why the FAA has opened up the process to us OTS applicants.

How long after the selection board meets will it be before we hear when the next pepc is? Will we find out our Tenative offers before the Pepc? I am just trying to guess how long we have...:banghead:

I was going to start a new thread for this....but hoping i get an answer here.

Well, we only have 1 PUBNAT to base off of right now... we found out about 3 weeks after selection panels about PEPCs. You don't get an TOL until your PEPC, right after your interview (the first part of the PEPC). You should however find out your facility if you're enroute or your state if your Terminal before your PEPC, after panels.

:yeahthat: And the panel dates floating around are the week of 9/8 for terminal and the week of 9/29 for enroute... so we still have some more time to sit around and wait.

I think PUBNAT3 is done with the AT-SAT (at least no one here has posted a date this week).

It will be interesting to see if they throw the geo prefs out to us quickly so that we can be considered for those panels.

Shouldn't be a problem for you guys if that happens; there weren't many applicants in our group (if AT-SAT turnout is an indication).

I don't know how they can hold panels on different dates (especially so far apart)? So en route gets the left overs? Doesn't make any sense...

If they send your geo prefs out this week, you'll get 3 weeks to select before the 9/8 panels, which is what they did for FEBOTS and us... I'm still thinking you guys will be thrown in with us for panels.

Leftovers? I don't understand what you're saying. If you're enroute you won't get "leftovers" from tower selections... two different things entirely.

Are you saying you selected both? If so, are you saying you don't really want enroute?

Looks to me like you chose ARTCC or Terminal...are you saying you can't make up your mind? Just because someone is willing to take what they can get doesn't mean they don't have a preference one way or the other. Also, I haven't seen to many people that limit themselves to Terminal or Enroute, they are mostly saying they will go anywhere. That being said, in my opinon, having the panels weeks apart would be a disadvantage for the folks on the en-route hiring panel as they would (barring any other pre-selection process we don't know about) be getting the "leftovers".

Do we get more than 1 pepc to choose from?:banghead:

Do you have to go to the one closest to your facility? Or your home?

Otherwise it seems like it would be best to get to the earliest one possible, right?

I chose the one most convenient for me. NYC was way too quick and I was in the process of packing... Memphis was the week I moved, had thought about it and there weren't enough options to fly direct (don't do connections unless I HAVE to... ie Manila) and then CHI dates were perfect, so I chose that.

You go to the earliest one you can attend. Keeping that in mind, reply to your emial asap. I received my email while I was floating the river, 4 days later I replied. I could have made it to the first PEPC(NYC) but I knew since I was delayed for four days, I would have had a better chance getting MEM. What do you know I got MEM. There were some people that picked NYC but were put on a waiting list becasue it filled up to quickly.

Not a clue, but those are the dates that our out there in several different places.

There was an FAA rep. from the hiring dept. present at our test, and he said there was a "mini-panel" (he called it) coming up, and that he doubted that PUBNAT3 would be included in that.

Would this be the "mini-panel" you speak of?
