Announcement Ending 05/02

so we all could possible be taking going a pepc sometime in the next 2-3 weeks...

Here's from a few pages back in the thread:

"Best case scenario (following what the FEBOTS went through):
AT-SAT testing for PUBNAT2 ends Friday 7/18
Geographic preferences sometime next week
Referral lists towards the end of August
PEPC invites beginning-mid September (really depends on when panels meet for us)
Attend PEPCs in October/November
Depending on what classes the open up in OKC and how many of the FEBOTS still need to be put into classes, head down to OKC in December/January"

I think this is a pretty accurate guess...of course its all at the speed of Gov't.:panic:

SO here is yet another Question, My wife got her TOL for ROA and I just got my AT-SAT Score and figure the geo prefs will be coming out next week(hopefully!) Does anyone know if a Husband and Wife are allowed to work at the same terminal? ROA is an up down and the next closest FAA terminal is GSO (two hours south) or RIC (three hours east). I am wondering if it would be a waste to put ROA Only on my Geo Pref and nothing else. Any help would be great! I am planning of touring ROA next week on my day off! Thanks in advance!:hiya:

I know a "husband and wife" pair in Dallas, TX... he is ATC at the ARTCC, and she's at the DFW Tower. Also, my husband works at the Atlanta ARTCC as a computer engineer, and that's where I would like to get placed as ATC. He's been talking to people around the center about me working there, and the impression he's getting is that it should help me get my preference because he already works there. So, from what I can tell, the FAA doesn't frown on husband/wife pairs working in the same building...

The holidays will probably slow things down too.

Do you guys think there is any advantage to talking with the managers at the facilities you want to go to? Have people been saying it is more likely to get the facility you want if you tour or talk to the manager ahead of time?

It probably depends on the size of the facility. For a center or large/consolidated TRACON, it is probably handled by some intermediary. But at a smaller facility, I figure it can't hurt to have your name in the mind of the ATM, since it very well may be that person who goes "hey, I'm losing xx number of folks, let me have this guy/gal" when your name comes up. That's assuming of course it even gets handled like that at all, and isn't some thing that gets handled at a regional office somewhere and everyone just kinda gets divvied up by wherever they are projecting retirements or transfers.

In any event, I'm going to list specific facilities when I select my preferences and in order of preference in the notes. It might at least get someone to make a call to someone whose hand I've shook at some point during the process.

so... anybody read the HOT!!! thread? hmm... made it sound like a really big deal at first, i don't think i'm too worried about it though. any thoughts?

It was someone having a panic attack about their OKC date, nothing more. There was nothing in there to suggest that they've frozen the entire process.

So everyone just calm down and take a deep breath.

None of us would see class dates prior to October anyway. The biggest impact of the class freezes is there will be a bigger backlog to clear through before they get to us. So add a couple of months to the process. Not the end of the world.. particularly since we all knew (or should have known) at the onset that this process is very slow anyway.

I feel bad for those in that thread who resigned their current job with just a TOL in hand. A TOL means you could be picked up in six weeks or six years. Any date they might hand you is certainly relative. Even with a FOL a date is iffy. I personally plan to work up to the absolute last day I can and still make it to OKC in time for class. I've been through the FAA hiring process once before.. I can guarantee you they will delay your start for even the smallest of reasons.

:yeahthat:i don't think i'd quit my job with just a TOL either. i'm already trying to save money to travel to my PEPC(if that happens) and then to OKC plus money to survive there for the first two weeks, staying employed to the last minute is the road i'm stickin to

Actually, from the sound of recent posts, PUBNAT2ers won't see OKC til at least Jan. 2009--thats what people who recently went to the MEM PEPC were told.

Heh heh...that works for me. I'll be fully vested in my current 401(k) by then. :)

I just need a TOL in hand before December and I'm golden.

That's around the time I was figuring anyway... I don't think the delay for the FEBOTS is going to delay us too much...

yeah i have also been counting on about Jan./Feb., but as always, can't wait until the next step. I was Kinda hoping we would already have gotten our Geo Pref. emails by now, but i guess i am hoping for miracles.

ok... someone posted somewhere on this forum that geo pref emails should be out in 1-2 weeks. I don't remember which thread it was or who posted it because all of this JC information is just pooled together in my head

Yesterday, I called the FAA and they had said they'd start sending out gp letters in the next few days. Hopefully, this is the case

hey, any news is good news. oh yeah, i finally got an e-mail from my regional NATCA director with info to set myself up with a tour at MSY, yes.:D
