XJT Rejects SKW's Takeover Bid

If I get furloughed, my plan is to apply at Pinnacle again. Back at Captain's pay in just a few months, and work with a unified and strong pilot group that doesn't take s--- from the company. I'd work there before any non-union company any day of the week.

PNCL has had the bar set so low, they're often grouped in the same category as Mesa.

As for union vs. non-union, I am with you 100%.

:)
From talking to other single pilots comparing medical coverage that is on the high side.

Like PCL said, they are paying $30.00 a month.

oh . . .

I could refer you to an attorney, but I doubt you'd be willing to spend $600/hr to have him tell you what I've already said.
You assume I don't have the dough or desire to find out? and I would like to speak to a disinterested party, not an ALPA or nothing guy.
What kind of stock options and profit sharing do they have? Just out of curiosity?
stock options is not pay.

How did you vote?
I'll tell you over beers at NJC:)

Anyone who groups Pinnacle in with Mesa knows not of what they speak. The Pinnacle contract was slightly above industry-average when it was signed. Now new 76-seat rates that are actually pretty decent are already in the agreement thanks to arbitration that was required by the CBA (unlike the situation at Skywest where pilots continue to fly planes up to 99 seats for 50-seat rates). PCL hasn't set the bar low at all. They are fighting hard to improve their contract, and they will be successful.

Talk to any RLA-experienced labor attorney you wish. If he's provided with all of the information, he'll tell you exactly the same as I have. This basic labor law, my friend.

I'll tell you over beers at NJC:)

Why not tell us here? What are you trying to hide?

I'll tell you over beers at NJC too:banghead:

Why do you have too push so hard all the time, dude! You alienate far more people than you win over to your side. Learn how to respect others and you will get more respect.

ExpressJet has profit sharing, anybody wanna know how that's working out these days?

I do! Actually most probably know.

Really? Hmmm...well seeing as our stock is trading higher than both United's and Delta's, I'm not sure I believe that. So we're supposed to wipe our butts with our perfomance reward checks? That's some pretty expensive toilet paper considering our "mediocre" pay scale. But what do I know? I'm ignorant. I just cash my check and have a nice cool glass of Kool-Aid.

The above is just another example of how when the times are going good people don't ever think its going to get bad. It just happened to us over here at ShuPubliQua with our Frontier flying. Thank god it was only a small hit and all of us on the line aren't going to be affected. Ask one of the guys going through training how it felt to think you got hired at one of the stronger regionals going to have someone come into your systems class and tell you to hit the road and that you have been terminated. Who would have seen that coming. The tide can turn REALLY quick. Look at Xjet. When I was instructing that was the place to be. Right now Skywest is doing well but what if, thats a what if, United doesn't merge and goes Bankrupt again, probably won't happen, but you lose a ton of your flying and all of a sudden things aren't going good anymore... It does happen...

Well, this might be hard to swallow but Pinnacle's current insurance is EXACTLY the same as I had as a ramper at SWA.....only I pay LESS for it now. So, yeah, our health insurance IS industry leading. The other stuff, not so much as of right now. When you counter that with "how's you're stock options?" how are you saying health insurance ISN'T industry leading. On a whole, our current contract sucks. Badly. Which is why we've been in negotiations for eternity. Wanna help? We're marching on HQ in MEM on May 1st. We could use a hand or several to hold signs and walk in a line.

I'd discourage anyone from coming to PCL right now basically b/c I want to take the "We've got tons of guys wanting to work here, why should we give you a better contract" weapon out of management's hands. Sorry, PCL, but if you came back, they'd be REAL quick to spin it "Guys would rather work here than AirTran!"

Stock options are a BENEFIT. What happens if the stock tanks? You don't get to keep the price it was when it was highest. What if Skywest gets left out in the cold in the NWA/DAL merger? What's going to happen to that stock? It's not going to stay as high as it is now. Which means the stock you acquired through stock options decreases in value. I don't know about you, but $1 is a $1. If I got paid $$$ rather than stock options, that money isn't going to decrese (outside of the value of the dollar and inflation). I've got SWA stock options that are worth less now than when I got them working there. I would rather have gotten cash. $500 cash is still $500 cash in a few years. $500 in stock options can quickly become $200-300.

I'll point you to my wife's glorious Starbucks stock options. They got a killer deal that would allow them to buy the stock at $X dollars for the next 10 years. Here's the problem. We'd LOSE money buying that stock right now b/c the market value is LESS than the option buy price. So, if they had GIVEN it to us for that price, it would be worth less now than when we got it.

I'd rather go for a higher pay rate than stock options anyday.

It was a simple question: how did you vote on the representational election? Why don't you want to answer it?

I'll be there! You going to be able to make it, Steve? Scott tells me that the giant inflatable management RAT is going to be making an appearance in front of Phildo's office again. Ahh, good times. ;)

Sorry, PCL, but if you came back, they'd be REAL quick to spin it "Guys would rather work here than AirTran!"

Rather? Hell no! Like I said, in the event of a furlough only. They're pretty good at spin down on Noncaring Blvd, but not that good.

He has every right to not discuss his voting decision here on JC. Somethings are better talked about in person so you can voice your reasoning better.

All I can say is SkyWest has been in business 35 years. They have been through plenty of rough times before. They have never had a union, and still managed to make it through the rough times without a mass pilot exodous like a certain ALPA carrier which 8 of 25 in my new-hire class used to fly for.
