Public Announcement Test & PEPC

I applied under the public offering that closed 2/15. I just took my AT-SAT today (3/20) in Arlington, TX. Has anyone that applies under this offering that is general public, and not CTI or VRA, received an offer to a PEPC? I know there will be one held in late April in DFW and im wondering if there is a chance they may give me an offer to attend this PEPC?

You will have to be referred to a region and then a selection panel needs to choose you from the pool of applicants before you are sent an invitation for further consideration (PEPC).

It's relatively easy to be selected to take the ATSAT. The process is automated, so nobody really takes a close look at your application. The hard part is to be selected when the panel convenes. At that time some "live person" examines your credentials and decides whether to hire you or not.

There are several people on here and atcti.com who were not selected despite "well qualified" (i.e. 85 and above) ATSAT scores.

I applied under the same gen pub announcement 2/15...took my AT-SAT in Lisle IL 3/14...got the results 3/20...and check ASAP regularly - hoping a referral list will appear =) Haven't heard of anyone in our situation receiving an offer yet. I'll keep my eye out. Best of luck!

I have been checking all the time. I took the test on the 18th in Lisle, and got the results the 20th. I wasn't actually expecting them to be there!

Did you guys already provide your geographic preferences? The announcement stated at the bottom to just select "United States- Throughout".

I have contacted the Aviation Careers office numerous times and they keep telling me I'll get the chance to provide mine, but my state's hiring panel is meeting in about 4 weeks. I need to let them know my preference so I can get on the referral list before then.

Selected my preferences anyway...
Anytime I search for the upcoming PEPCs all I can find is this same Washington Headquarters Press Release from 2/15. Concerning the PEPCs it states,

The first Center was set up at the regional FAA office in New York in January and was a huge success when more than 90 prospective controllers were interviewed. Individuals invited to come to the Centers are candidates chosen by centralized selection panels for further consideration. The first hires to participate in this process received job offers within two weeks and will start at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City this month. Other Centers will be held in Florida, Atlanta, Fort Worth, and Chicago between now and the spring.

The only other thing with any info is the FAA's 3/6 Testimony http://www.faa.gov/news/testimony/news_story.cfm?newsId=10181
Under Controller Workforce it just talks about Jacksonville's PEPC and that Miami's is coming up in 2 weeks (already passed). So where next? And when?

How did you find out when your states was? The last couple of times I've called Aviation Career Services there wasn't anyone available and it just told me to call back............. =(

According to GBurgNupe, he has a PEPC in ATL on April 10th.

I believe that the PEPC is being held at A80 (Atlanta TRACON). The 10th is my day off, but if anyone has it on the 7-9th stop by and say hi. You'll recognize me wearing the NATCA black fleece of Heavenly Valley black fleece.

Good Luck.

they let you wear FLEECE to work!? What would the public think!! :sarcasm:

Do you really have to be "business casual" even when working off shift? I never understood why places that were not accessible to the general public required a dress code (like where I work now... I think they only have dress codes in case they DO allow in visitors, they think it will cover up the fact that half the people in "managerial" roles haven't even ever taken a chemistry class, let alone have a college degree... I think this is kind of important since we make pharmaceuticals, but that's just me?)

keep up the good work ATLTRACON (my favorite frequency to listen to on atcmonitor.com) maybe I will see you at a PEPC some day soon... you guys haven't scared me off yet... in fact, a lot of the warnings posted on here remind me a lot of where I work now... so I'm coming to the FAA already beaten down.

sorry to ramble!

I find ATLTRACON's posts to be very informative, and not trying to scare me off. I think he is providing an excellent point of view, and has plenty of experience to back it up. When I first made it to this board though, everytime I found a post by him, I would say "Oh boy, here we go," but I now understand his reasoning, and thank him for it!
My $.02....
Do you get many visitors at your facility ATLTRACON? I have relatives that work at ORD, and they seemed very reluctant to give me a tour, but did only on a Saturday or Sunday morning.

I thought that too, ATLTRACON is my new favorite poster (post-er?)

Chicago PEPC is May 19th. I had to turn it down though because I have Air Natl Guard duties that week.

Saturday/Sunday for the most part, sometimes nights, but it's usually just one or two people that the controller will know, are when tours are given. Very rarely though. It is usually just controllers/manglement from other facilities that come in when they are using our facility for a meeting. Flying clubs/Cub Scouts etc., but very rarely.

ATLTRACON can correct me if I'm wrong, but it always seems like it comes down to the who ya know type of thing. I've gotten a tour of the facility here where I am a couple times, but it just happens my family has a family friend that works at the facility

My husband and I got a tour today. But it is a level 7 facility, not a 12 like ATL or ORD. But it was informative. This may sound incredibly naive but the thing that surprised me the most was how dark the radar room was. In fact, the guy giving the tour kept knocking into things. But if by any chance I get invited to the ATL PEPC I will TOTALLY look you up!

I agree with kcarpentier and jkoffler44, I used to dread reading ATLTRACON's posts, but he seems to be one of the ones who actually cares about the future of this career.

BTW: ATL love your new signature. I used to have a poster that said essentially the same thing, it said "I don't discriminate, I hate everyone!"

I got a tour of the tower in Burlington, VT a few years ago when I was an intern at the National Weather Service there... I think the only reason they let me up was because my supervisor knew it was something I wanted to do so he kept calling them up and bugging them (I'm sure that made them happy!)

You guys are going to make me cry. Can anyone give me an idea of timeframe for the PEPC after my daughter takes the AT-SAT?

Thanks.
