US Airways flying is a guaranteed money loser for Colgan. I always try to non-rev family members on Colgan because I know there'll be a seat open. Sad huh?

Maybe you have bad luck flying empty planes.

BUT, out of SYR, we are oversold about 80% of the time going to/ from LGA and I'd venture to say at least 50% of the time going to/ from BOS. It's been especially heavy (high loads--tough to commute to/ from SYR) since November. We are making tons 'o money for the company here. Our runs to PIT, on the other hand, are a different story since there aren't many 'connections' going through there now that mainline has dramatically reduced their presence. Basically hit or miss on the loads to/ from PIT. Furthermore, flights on other operators to DCA, PHL, CLT have been equally full. SYR is a hoping place for US Airways.

I'm considering taking a Q class, I just don't want to leave the beech but the beech is on it's way out.

Come on down!!! We're having a blast on the Q! :nana2:

Although.... you're going to have to adjust from 0 FA's to 2! That just may be the hardest part of your training. :p :D

Honestly- I think all the US Airways flying will be gone by June 09. It makes no money and is a large reason this company lost $6 million last quarter.

The crews will be all shifted to the Q400 or if they dont want to move, they will risk furlough.

Just my opinion.

People forget that we DO NOT have a contract with US Airways. We did not bid for Airways flying. We do it at-risk. If we stopped serving a city, Airways wouldn't care and they certainly wouldn't replace it. Remember when Colgan used to fly BUF-LGA and ROC-LGA and PWM-LGA? Airways took those away because Colgan was making too much money on it. Now they're AWAC/PDT routes. And people say Colgan steals flying...haha.

Time will tell I guess but you're probably right on that. I remember reading that article regarding the losses and Pinnacle said they would "reevaluate" many of Colgan's existing routes, EAS contracts, etc. As if Colgan hasn't gone through enough changes already.

But....but....but the Pinnacle acquisition isn't going to change anything!

I suspect at the time of the aquisition, the existing Colgan management probably didn't know of any changes.

I bet they did. They only time I heard "Nothing is going to change" is when the union drive was on last year.

Keep in mind with our codeshare agreement with US Airways- Colgan gets a VERY small fee for connecting passengers. I would venture to say only a few dollars per passenger.

Only when a passenger goes from SYR to LGA does the company that mad monies.

On a side note my pay credit this month is 132:32. Did anyone fly LGA today? Complete chaos. 1 hour push...1.5 hr taxi...1 hr flight.

I heard (Dark corner wispers) that AUG will be closing in May as a 1900 base. No word if it will see a saab, Cape air 402, or BHB based 1900 after that. Loads have not meet minimums, partialy due to WX/Cancelations so it is likely to not qualify for the full EAS Funding.

Ah, so the Colgans finally found a way out of the contract (if your right). Capt. KC at your base called in months and months back when i was still there.

"You know I swear they run the Beech line like crap purposely to drive get rid of the route."

Interesting but not suprising. I've heard they want to get the Saab in here but the more likely one is seeing Cape Air in here.

It's only a rumor and we know how those go but supposedly Colgan is completely leaving AUG this November. If the base closes in May then they must be using other 1900 crews to come in and out of here this summer.

4 of 5 AUG Captains leaving in the next month, 2 of 3 FO's are eligble to transition to another airframe. 2 of 3 ALB CA's are gone, as well. Don't see the system running with 1 CA in ALB, 1 in AUG, 3 in BHB and 2 in BOS.. i'd bet to see 3 in ALB, 4 in BHB.

As of March 31 there will be no more lead Captain in AUG, all duties performed by Station personal . Over the Next two months, 9 Captains leaving for different airframes, Leaving 8? with one check airman. Not sure how they plan on staffing 5 airframes with 8 Crews and 4 bases.

Alb is MX, and will have heard a skeleton Crew there. Bhb will stay for now, as that is the most Profitable in summer time. Bos Prob won't Be around for long, or everything will be moved to that non-existent crew room.

The company plans on hiring 3 1900 Street CA's... from where i have no idea. Not exactly lots of pilots with 1900 types and an ATP just waiting at the door for Colgan. None of the Big Sky direct entry CA's went to the beech.

On top of that, Raytheon just delivered 10 1900's to Saudi Arabia, some were old Colgan planes. They intend to deliver more... Soon. Not sure how many Big Sky planes there were... But when you suddenly find a Raytheon engineer on your plane chatting with you, whom is "just visiting" telling you about delivering planes to far of lands... well:(

Good luck boys... these last 2 Months are going to look like a dream Vacation soon.
