Hey peers,

Are any of you JCers current or former missionary pilots? or do you know someone is is/was? And if so, could you put me in contact with them?

Much obliged,

J

Does that involve the mile-high club? Oh, different kind of position entirely. Sorry!

I was down in Nogales not too long ago and spoke with a gentleman flying a caravan who was ferrying folks (missionaries) back and forth into Central America. That might be a good starting point for you.

See - I'm not that bad:D.

Classic. HAHA

When I did some research it seems a bunch of the positions required an A&P. Start the apprenticeship now! Help out at your local shop, sweep floors, change oil, clean spark plugs. Log it all!

I'm attending flight school at Bob Jones University aviation, and I'm sure I could put you in contact with some people that know quite a bit about missionary flying. PM me if you are interesting in talking to someone.

I've already been in contact with a few of those organizations. And I've already started looking into getting my A&P at an 18 month school.

Thanks for the recommendations guys.

That's funny stuff right there. Don't let the holy-rollers get to ya, sdfcvoh. Good save w/ the info that followed though. ;)

Lighten up Francis!

Man I'm taking a thrashing here. I'm far from perfect, and I'm NOT a holy roller. I'm just a person looking to help people and make a difference in the world. I don't care if chicks dig the fact that I'm a missionary pilot. I never play the pilot card and do alright.

Really though, you guys took an honest and sincere question and turned it into me defending myself!

And you know, I see the sarcasm tag. Believe me when I tell you I'm one of the most sarcastic guys there are, as well as a cut up. But a serious question like this is neither the time nor the place.

Thank you for those who gave me serious information.

Sorry amigo. I respect the heck out of missionaries and support them financially. They tend to be folks who want to help people out in this world and the next. If anything, I was saying have a sense of humor, and if you are going to take offense at a little crassness, change your avatar to the church lady. I looked into doing some mission flying, but I wasnt up to writing a 10 page story on how holy I was. I have a missionary friend, and I will send him an email to see if he has any contacts and pm them to you. good luck.

Granlistillo, if you only knew me you'd know I have a sense of humor that often gets me into trouble! But I try to take my flying seriously, and I figured it would offend people if i came in talking slang 'bout gettin' put on with a missionary outfit. It is one thing that I have to take very seriously because of the boss!

But i must say I was rolling watching the video with Francis. I just can't remember the movie.

I was just jerking your chain a little.
Hey, I was born an okie a life time ago. I assume you're a great dude, and I never met a pilot from riverside I didnt like...

I have been distantly considering the same idea. MAF sent me a book on Nate Saint, and it is incredible.
