Job posting websites for low-time pilots

Any one know of any job listing sites that a low-time commercial rated pilot might find a job on? The only one I know of is www.findapilot.com. Please refrain from listing airline websites as this has become a dead end.

All the additional help past the first serious reply is just oh so appreciated. :sarcasm:

For all you people out there that say get your CFI or "build up your hours like the rest of us" sometimes just don't have a clue.

Maybe I don't want to get my CFI. Maybe I don't have the money to get my CFI. Maybe I was under the impression I did not need to get my CFI and that I could get a job without it under the current so-called pilot shortage.

With all the BS floating on the forum about low-time pilots getting hired how could one not assume these things? And it is just that, BS. The average low-time part 61 instructed pilot is not going to get a regional job this way. I know that after nearly two months of trying.

Get a clue!

Anyway, I do now know I was misinformed and do need to get my CFI, but money is short and I can't do it right now. Any flying gig I can get will help out. You should not blame me for trying. I don't want to work at a gas station. I am 36, not 18, I need something a little better.

A CFI is great on many levels. You learn alot and get some quality flight time in the book. It's definitely not required, when you're low time and looking you hear about it so much you begin to believe it is, right?? At least that's how I felt when I was at 262/0. I said all the same things...I don't need one to get a job...don't have the money...don't even want the hassle of getting checked by the Feds...no desire to teach...not a good enough pilot anyway, how could I possibly have any knowledge to pass on...

Oh, did I learn a few things when I got my CFI!

Honest question - and I'm really not flaming you here.

Do you personally feel you have the knowledge and ability to fly a passenger jet? Assuming you got hired today and passed training in 2 months, would you have the requisite knowledge, skills, ability, and experience to safely do the job?

And that's a great point. To add - CFIing IS a job. And it can definitely pay enough to support you these days. Other than that, if the original poster has 500 hours, you could try for VFR part 135 operations, like that company who does scenic flights over the grand canyon.

Sorry, you were misinformed. Besides instructing, no insurance company is going to allow you to be paid as a PIC with less than 500 hours. Even traffic watch in day VFR in a 172 requires around 500 hours. You have to fill the gap, some how. The CFI can be the cheapest license/rating you get.
 
Maybe I'm just old school, but I firmly believe in paying your dues. It amazes me that regionals nowadays will hire somebody with no work experience and maybe 250/20 in their logbook. I am surprised at how little I knew with 300 hours....or even 500 hours.

There is no substitute for real world experience.

As funny as it may seem, if you do become a CFI/CFII, the pay will probably be much better than a low time regional job.
 
flhcri, don't mind those that don't respond with a serious reply. People here jump on the chance to say 'get your CFI' because it's the way they did it. Choose your own path, luckily, with the pilot shortage, at many flight schools getting a CFI is now PFJ (pay for job). They won't admit that part of the equation because it goes along with their philosophy of buying ratings at a big school is also PFJ.

Again, choose your path, the market is always going to be an ebb and flow situation, so you can decide for yourself if you want to CFI or get on a seniority list.
 
My folks will hire a 250 hour CFI yesterday. If you just have your commercial, you'd only fly for the summer and all those positions are taken right now. We have hired sub 300 hr commercial pilots to fly scenic tours (part 91).

A CFI ticket WILL get you a job right now. GUARANTEED. Thats one of the few guarantees in the aviation business right now.
 
I am going to have to go with flhrci on this one..... If you can get a job with low time, and you don't really "want" to be a CFI, then DO IT!!! I would not blame you!

There is no such thing as "dues" anymore! And besides that, go back 30 or 40 years and see how many major airline captains were CFI's, I bet the number is short, the were probably mostly ex-military.... So shame on all of you that were not military pilots, you should have paid your dues!

I know a lot of guys that got a "lucky" break somewhere in their flying career. There are a lot of guys on here that have gotten somewhere they want to be without being a CFI for years. In my opinion, being a CFI is a lot more than a rating, you have to want to do it, and be passionate about it. If you are not, then you should not do it. (period)
