ASA Job fair at BNA

Anyone going to the ASA job fair in Nashville on the 19th?

What should you take? What should you expect? Will they interview you on the spot or will it just be an informational meeting?

You should expect informational picketing outside of the job fair from ASA ALPA, and other ALPA carriers.

I'm sure a resume, logbook, dressed professionally, and a clean shaven face are probably what you should bring.

Well, I just heard through a third party that ASA only filled 14 of 40 pilot slots for last month. I think the odds are in your favor. Good luck, knock em' dead.

It went Great!

I drove up from Memphis. There were only 3 potential pilots there. One guy had only 25 multi. The other guy was also pretty young but I didn't ask him his times. There was an ASA FO/training department guy conducting the job fair. He gave us a 30 minute slide show about the company. Then we had a Q and A session. We filled out a short questionnaire. He then took us aside one at a time , looked over our resume , logbook etc. asked us a few more questions and that was it! The whole thing took only 45 minutes. The presentation was very professional and the Guy was very nice , helpful and accommodating! I was impressed , they sound like a great company!

I'm looking forward to going to ATL for the interview!

I'm really surprised that they weren't doing onsite interviews!

Not only are the ASA pilots trying to discourage other pilots from applying there, but they are also holding job fairs for their own pilots to help them move on. In other words - they are trying to cut off the inflow of pilots and increase the outflow - squeezing the staffing levels. Interesting...

Did they invite you down? Which guy had 25 multi? The younger or the older one? Was that in the last 6 months or total?

I was that big bastard sitting beside you:) You were the USAF guy right? I have 1170TT with 504ME and 28 ME in the last 6 months. I think you might have not heard me right. He never looked at my log book. Didn't ask me down either. Who knows? The only thing I can think of is thet I failed my Commercial Multi Inst check the first time. (took them all at once) I had my single engine Instrument. My instructor said on the flight down. You know your A, B, C's of airspace right. Me " ohh yea" I didn't know they changed the classification back in 1994 so I screwed that part up on that check ride but came back a week or two later and sailed right through it. Thats the only check ride I didn't pass on the first try. Maybe that was it. The other guy was a ramp worker of some sort. Maybe you were thinking of him? Everyone seemed really nice. Despite the contract it seems like it would be a good place to work. Maybe I will get the call after all. I hope so.
