I've made up my mind about making up my mind...

....I made up my mind that I'm never making up my mind. Whenever I made a decision towards my career in the airlines, its always seemed to be the wrong one. First Colgan over Xjet for the upgrade, then I decide to leave for Republic and CJC offers fast upgrade and a home base, then ALPA fails to go through. Now I tried to get in touch with RAH to get a class date back, but no luck. Now I'm stuck in a company thats gonna use and abuse its pilots. Maybe I'll start doing the OPPOSITE of what I decide on!!

Man, sorry to hear that. Sounds like a lot of bad luck.

Hey, the opposite thing worked for George Costanza, though!

Dont say that!!!! You should say dont do that.... Then he will do that... Because if he does that - he will wish he didnt do that. You got that?

Dude no sweat, if u want RAH trust me they are still looking...I applied there and turned it down since I was holding out for where I am now and they still send emails every so often...And I dont mean to add to the existential crisis and all, but man pick the one that u r gonna regret the least... (Kinda like that fat chic at the bar...Wait shes not THAT bad )

I've had similar things happen to me in a different career field. Best thing I did was actually put the blinders on, faced my current situation and found things about it I liked, focused on them, and at the end of that, found I liked what I was doing. When the next opportunity came, I wasn't desperate to get it, and when it came through, I felt good about it.

Time to put the disappointment behind you and focus. Hard.

There's been times where I felt exactly like you feel right now, but it still ended up working out in the end.

If I were you, I would do whatever gives you a better lifestyle. Sure PIC time is important and great, but if you are going to be miserable, then what's the point? If you think you'd like Republic, then by all means take the offer.

Don't chase an airplane or PIC time, chase lifestyle!

I dont know if I should stay at Colgan or take Republics offer!!! I hate this

Reminds me of that guy in movie "the simpsons" who couldn't decide whether to stay outside the dome or get inside.

:D

I know how it feels when you have few different options each one somewhat attractive or repulsive and it lead to a frustration. It's better sometimes to pick one thing and stick with it even if it's not the better option rather than being frustrated all the time. You won't lose anything if you take some time and think about it later I think.

Dude its simple, STAY AT COLGAN, UPGRADE, and get the heck out of the regional business. Stop flirting around with different regionals just to prolong your FO days. Why start over? You already made your regional choice when you came there so stick it out. There's no reason why you can't be at a major in the next two years or less. Repeat after me 1000 TPIC, 1000 TPIC, 1000 TPIC....:)

sigpilot, read my response in the Pro Pilot section. Don't beat yourself up for your decisions, because you really can't predict how they will turn out.

Hey man, you've got a job and you have the ability to get some PIC time soon. You're not gonna stay there...would you plan on staying at Republic? I wouldn't make a move unless you have a serious financial or family crisis going on related to staying at Colgan. Hold steady and get the experience you need to open some serious doors and then pack 1000 copies of your resume under the speedbreaks.

Let this be a lesson to those who evaluate a job based on where they think it might lead, rather than on its own merits. One should never go into an employment situation with their eyes on the door.

And you get to take a number and stand in line with the thousands who already have that and MORE.

Keep in mind that I'm no where near reg. quals, but this is what I've always though of as common sense. Brand X started a feud about staying at the regionals forever ... or never escaping, but he had a point, because, just IMHO, people switch jobs and start all over at FO. I'd say, upgrade.

Maybe I can see the forest clearer from the outside, but maybe I'm just a noob that doestn't know his @$$hole from a ADI. :p

Keep your eye on the goal

I don't know how many times at the OBAP convention major airline pilots were talking about not getting comfortable at the regionals. Go to Republic if you want to retire there. If not the choice is simple. If you switch by the time you upgrade at Republic you could have been at CAL, NWA, DAL, UAL, etc. Shoot, I even think CAL has preferential hiring with Colgan.
