That looks like it was an awesome trip... even if you had to pry yourselves out of the 152's!

Kick ass man. Great shots, and I'm sure that's a trip that you'll always remember.

Oh how I'd love to take a 172 or 152 out across the country for a good 50 hours.
 
Thanks for the comments, guys. Not sure where we crossed the Delaware... I'd have to look back at our route. As far as our longest day... the most we ever flew in a day was three 2.5 hour legs. We didn't fly at night, and the only reason it took 11 days was because of some massive weather and maintenance delays. We had a ton of fun, though. Saw a lot of the country, had some great food, and met some cool people. I was so glad to have the chance to do it.

Was the guy still there in Bartlesville, OK on CTAF that pretends to be ATC? That cracks me up!
 
Nice pics. I fly out of PVD in either the DA40 or Twin Comanche at the moment. That plane used to be Gary's N49479 right? I've flown it a bunch of times when I was first starting my training.
 
Sorry to be slow on the responses...

Yes, the plane used to be owned by a guy named Gary... I believe his last name is St. James or something like that. Not sure if the tail number used to be different. It flew nice, but that sucker would foul spark plugs like nobody's business. I know 152s are prone to it, but this particular engine was an extreme case. Every single runup we did (and I mean EVERY runup) required burning the lead off the plugs for smooth operation.

We took 11 days to get back to Glendale, but it would have been a 4 day trip had everything gone well along the way. Total Hobbs time was around 28.5, and ground speeds varied between 85-100kts along the route. We generally cruised at 4500 or 6500MSL, but between El Paso and Tucson we struggled up to 10500 for a few minutes. I feel like I really fell in love with the 152 along the way... what a great little airplane! I didn't have a lot of Cessna time before the trip, but I've started to appreciate how rock-solid their designs are. I would do another trip like this in a heartbeat.
 
Yep I know exactly who you're talking about. I flew it a few years back and it wasn't a problem then. Must have progressed over the years. Have you fixed the fouling yet? Any idea what was causing it?
