Express Jet Questions?

As some of you know I have been working as a CFI these last 7 months. I have really enjoyed it and have learned more than I thought I ever could have. However, with this hiring happening and me getting burned out (7+ hours dual given on some days), i am starting to look at regionals. My times are currently 760TT/75Multi, ATP written, Associates Degree.

My number one goal is to try to stay on the west coast hopefully. I noticed that XJT has ONT and LAX as bases. How hard is it for a new-hire to get those bases? Also would commuting from PDX even be an option or would I be asking for a living hell? Also how long is reserve looking like out of those bases?

Another thing is my flight time. I understand XJTs mins for multi are 100, are they steadfast with keeping to those? or would i stand a chance of getting a call with only 75? I am just trying get some straight answers from some of you who work there and have some current info. Thanks.

LOL , You can dish it out , but you can't take it! You troll my post , but cry when I make a remark on yours!

You'll be a lot of fun on a 4 day trip. Probably bring your mom along in case the FA says something you didn't like ..................

West coast would be easy to get. They are sending pilots out of their domicile (TDY) temporarily to cover the shortage. If you don't get it initially then give it two months and it will be yours. There is so much movement right now that you can easily get what you want and reserve will be short or possibly non-existent on the west coast. Go get 25 more multi and apply now. Sounds like you're ready. I'm a new-hire. Waiting for IOE and so far training and everyone has been great. I'm going to like it here.

I just got my training schedule and they've got my OE scheduled like 2 days after my LOFT. I'm calling BS somehow if you're still waiting on OE.

This isn't the 'other place'. Keep your muddy feet off Doug's furniture.

From what I've heard from a couple of xjet'rs, LAX and ONT are the most junior bases.

For more scoop i'd check out their forum www.expressjetpilots.com

I wonder if the IOE wait depends on the base you are going to. They want the guys into LAX and ONT ASAP to kill the TDY. the wait for EWR, IAH and CLE might be longer.

Yellow card has already been given.

People, if you have nothing nice to say, do us a favor and walk away or just don't speak. that attitude just isn't going to fly. :)

edit: apparently, it was just a joke...he just forgot to state as much.

Getting the smack down from a n00bie. I love it.

That was fast man. Has it really been 7 months of CFIing already? That's awesome you are getting ready to make the plunge.

to answer the original question, im sure you could get hired at XJT with 75 multi. The best way to find out though is apply!

Ah...the joys of the footprint! That would be one of the areas that are "Subject To Change." According to GS, there's still a wait for new hires, but it's coming down. It would say at least 1 to 2 weeks after your LOFT. That's what I waited when I was a new hire and a little over 2 for UOE.

Straight up... you will not get hired with 75 multi at XJT.

LAX and ONT are going Junior right now... but within a very short period of time they will be fully staffed and then it will be luck of the draw for all new hires.

My suggestion, if you want to apply at XJT, is to get 25 multi within the week and get your app in. If you apply without 100 multi... you will not get a call.

Hope that helps...

Bob

Um...who the heck are you?

Sweet! The longer the better I figure. I've gotta drive from Houston to Michigan, change cars, see my folks and THEN drive to Salt Lake, setup an apartment and get ready for OE. If it takes em a month I'll be a happy guy!

I just finished IOE on thursday. I'm headed out to LAX tomorrow. out of 15 people in my class 13 went to LA. nobody really wants to stay there. there are so many people trying to get OUT of la and ont. so even if they get fully staffed, if you were to get hired into another base like iah or ewr (as bad as it may be right now), im sure you could base trade to la.

Not sure what the reserve time will be by the time you were to get hired, trained, and finished with ioe, but word is that most of my class will hold a line come sept 1, but who knowsss. i heard that they were going to stop the TDY come september, if thats true then we will most likely hold lines.

better be true!

from what i've noticed is the people who lived closest to iah, cle and ewr got done with ioe earlier than those who lived further. the first 2 people in my class to finish ioe lived in houston, coincidence? maybe. They should have ioe set up in some sort of seniority order, or at least SOME order, but im not paid to make those decisions.

Hope this helps any

All schedules have been saying that. It's wishful thinking but it isn't going to happen because background checks are taking forever. You're not doing anything in an airplane without a badge or uniforms and badges are required to pick them up. Get ready for a few weeks off after loft and they might even cancel your loft like they did for half our class. It gave us an opportunity to knock the rust off after having a month off and before being sent out to IOE. We still don't even know our base yet. They're catching up but it's still taking awhile. I've sat home for 4 weeks so far waiting for the call. Guys I know in classes a month or two ahead of me waited up to 7 weeks before IOE but there were some exceptions with a few individuals. No one knows why. Just plan on some time off. No matter what, it's still good to be here. I'm not complaining.

Fact:
Hired 3/24
got call for IOE 1.5 weeks after LOFT - didn't make it due to personal reason
another call for IOE 5.5 weeks later out of ONT - two 4-day trips.
requested LAX and got it.
finished IOE 2 weeks ago, and been on reserve for 2 weeks.
line holder for august.

looks like they're sending alot of people to ONT and LAX. i have buddies who will still be on reserve for ONT next month. so sounds like ONT's full for now

commute it's easy for me (SJC) - southwest and our own plane gives me more than 10 flights a day.

get you multi up to 100 and make sure you have at least 60 in the past 6 months. good luck
