Colganpilotgroup WT...?!

Let me start of by saying NO, I am no longer a pilot for Colgan air but I was there damn long enough to see and support the beginning of the ALPA drive and continue to follow the unfolding of events.

With that being said, 5X5's squad of company sponsored "management" pilots has mounted what is in my opinion an attack on the integrity and validity of the Colgan O.C. comparable to that of a spoiled brat throwing a tantrum when they don’t get their way. A very similar strategy as that used by the Colgan management when they submitted a letter of complaint to the NMB questioning the validity of the registration cards that were submitted in support of a vote (to which the NMB politely responded with a “You have no argument” and dismissed the whole thing).

Ironically this is the same "pilot group" who once promised that they would stop the bashing and wait for the outcome and SUPPORT the majorities decision, which Colgan pilots have VERY CLEARLY CHOSEN...Of course what else would you expect from a group who has a state senator and his children as “advisors”. The members of the O.C. who spearheaded the movement are motivated, well informed and have NEVER been shy about giving the answers, whether its good our bad, their message has always been BE INFORMED and make your decision…

The O.C. members have ALWAYS made themselves available and open for questions and concerns, contrary to what the members of the Colgan pilot group would have you believe…Don’t believe me? TRY IT! The contact information is plainly available on the www.alpa.org/colgan page.

Guys and gals, look at the industry we work at, yes we are fortunate for all the current opportunity out there, but don’t forget your worth…EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US paid a price of dedication and hard work and risk to get here, don’t let any company undermine that sacrifice by telling you to “Deal with it” whether the “it” stands for non existent work rules, or flying an airplane with 13 MEL’s, or getting shorted on pay, etc. You have a voice, and use it to MAKE IT BETTER!

Funny thing happened the other day.

A friend of mine here at CJC called the CP to discuss some issues he has had recently. Now, we've all been informed there is an "open door policy" at Colgan and if any employee has issues, we should bring them to our superiors' attention. Great, let's do that.

Well, to make a long story short......said friend was told by the CP when they spoke, if he didn't like it, he should leave?!?! WTFO? Wow, that's open door policy for you. Don't like it.......there's the door!

I should note, however, the CP has since appologized for his comments. But hey, what was said, was said. There is no "open door policy" around here. If you say something outside of the company-line to management.....the chances of it coming back to bite you in the ass are high.

ALPA anyone?

Skyway had an open door policy, but it was actually used as a benefit to the pilots.

Pretty much an open door policy at Southernjets as well, at least as far as I've seen. I occasionally break the cardinal rule of airline flying and drop in the chief pilots office to shoot the sh-- with the guy. But any type of high-level concern or if I'm instructed to come to the office (which hasn't happened yet, knock on wood), I'm dragging an ALPA rep in there with me.

Its one thing to drop by the Chief Pilots office but another thing to be brought to the the office....never a good thing...or any managers office. My employee hate it when I call them to come to my office. 95% its just to ask a question but 5% scares them...

Good Ol' TB...You can always count on him to worry about his retirement scheme...In his defense, his response is the way the Colgan management in general feels about the pilots...They don't see the reason for their pilots leaving as looking for better QOL or better pay...They just see it as "Shiny Jet Syndrome" and all though I'm sure their is a % of that going on it is by no means the major cause of desertion at CJC ...Management needs to get their collective heads out of where the light don't shine and get in touch with the real pilot issues...And that DOSE'NT mean giving away T-shirts and paper airplanes!

Ah....see. Now that's the same way management is on the jet-side of the operation (aka PCL). "Give 'em T-shirts, paper airplanes, luggage tags and these cheap-ass coaster (WTF? COASTERS?) and they'll be happy!"

The #1 seniority guy was in the crew room with me when they handed out the new Delta flying t-shirts. His response "Great! I needed something to clean my toilet with!" The real funny thing was the $30 check they sent to everyone for 4th of July. A lot of guys sent it to the strike fund.

Sounds to me like PCL management has already started to work their techniques in over on the Colgan side. You guys have my sympathy and support.

Well said man, I agree 100%. I support the APLA OC 100%. I haven't been here long, but it doesn't take long to see what problems we face here and what needs to be done. I am looking for major changes to come with ALPA and those changes to happen quickly. Otherwise I'm not wasting my time staying here. Its pathetic that I'll actually get a raise by leaving after my first year.

I love this though - from a two day overnight pairing.

If everything moved along quickly from now...Jul 17- when do you think a contract could be signed? 2 years?

The real funny thing was the $30 check they sent to everyone for 4th of July. A lot of guys sent it to the strike fund.

Apparently a DTW Captain wrote on the packaging "ATTN: Phil - a donation has been made in your name to my strike fund; my MEC speaks for me," then sent the letter back to Nonconnah. I got a good laugh out of that one.:rawk:

Nice! I couldn't even guess which CA it was. That sounds like a good chunk of the guys up there that would do that.

Just an update...According to www.colganpilotgroup.com "The only thing that all off you hard core ALPA keep advertising is that we need protection. Protection from what? Only the trouble makers and the weak pilots are the ones that need protection"...

:sarcasm:Wow I really wish I would have had one of those "Perfect pilots" to teach me how to NOT be weak and NOT make mistakes...Those Colganpilotgroup pilots must be the most awesome pilots in the world:sarcasm:...

To all ALPA represented pilots, remember...the ONLY reason we need ALPA is b/c we are WEAK and/or TROUBLE MAKERS...Please make sure to thank them for opening our eyes www.colganpilotgroup.com:banghead:.

I like the letter from Mike Colgan (puppet company pres.) that I recently received. It stated he didn't think ALPA would be good for the company or the pilots. It's funny how he was concerned about the company first....and the pilots second. Hmmmm, me thinks management is scared. They are really pumping out the kool-aid now that the vote is only one week away. He also went on to suggest we just throw our voter instruction card away to keep it from falling into "the wrong hands." Yep, no problem Mike, I'll toss mine just as soon as my vote is entered. ;)

The Colgan Pilot Group is a sham......Nothing like spreading more misinformation.....keep up the good work guys. :sarcasm: As a group you have absolutely no legal power to negotiate anything! If the company would agree to anything on your behalf, it could be yanked out from under you as fast as it was granted. Furthermore, I like how all the replies on the CPG site are anonymous, yet the ALPA OC has their names & phone #'s plastered all over the place.

You CPG people want to know who we need protection from???? Well, if you'd take your company-provided blinders off it would be obvious......we need protection from Phil and Co. The Colgans do not hold the purse strings anymore and regardless of what nonsense they try to present, the fact remains this is now Pinnacle Holdings, INC. Everyone knows, MONEY RUNS BUSINESS. It's the stock holders who control the show. THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WE NEED PROTECTION FROM! The additional certificate/ medical protection is just an added bonus to being represented.......more importantly, it's the newly formed contract that will be the actual ALPA provided protection.

Oh, man. I think I might just post that in the DTW crew room. Any of those guys come across their Pinnacle step brothers, they might be in for a beat down. They just basically called all of us that are fighting for a better contract trouble makers and weak pilots?!?!?

They must be desperate. This is the aviation equivalent of saying "Man, only losers do the right thing. Look what the rest of your friends are doing!"
