Video of passenger confronting Delta 5635 pilots last week

Re: Video of passenger confronting Comair 635 pilots last we

Not sure if this has been posted already.

This is video of a passenger walking up to the flight deck during a ground hold on June 21st at JFK and demanding why people can't get off of the plane. I think both the pilots kept their cool and tried to explain the situation the best they could.

I know you know this was really Comair, right?

I think the lady at the end standing in the doorway said "We are going to get another crew". Not sure what that meant. Is it possible the pilots exceeded their hours?

Re: Video of passenger confronting Delta 5635 pilots last we

"You bet your ass I am"......... "I'm not complaining....."... “on the phone with my congressman”.....
The guy then demands the chief pilots name....blah blah blah...

I'm impressed how well this CA was patiently dealing with this guys “in your face” attitude, this guy was walking a border line of having the Port Authority deal with him.

I know personally how the JFK ramp can be, and arguing and complaining like that does nothing but raise your own blood pressure. If you can’t deal with JFK’s delays, not to mention their operation in general with a lot of patience, you’re setting up to annoy yourself. Whining and complaining among the crew and passengers will not speed up the ramp, gate agents, or whatever else is going on at the airport. And complaining to those people on the ramp, or whoever else, if you haven’t learned yet-you will see that it doesn’t do a lot of good (if any).

yes, at least that's what I read in another article.

In an earlier thread:

A Comair CRJ was ground stopped at JFK last Thursday for 4 hours with no A/C. One passenger took the liberty to march up front and video interview the pilots why they were not able to get off the plane...

Re: Video of passenger confronting Delta 5635 pilots last we

Wow, I had my first experience with a guy like this two days ago. People have know clue how an airport is a more dynamic and complex situation than the Burger King drive through.

Re: Video of passenger confronting Delta 5635 pilots last we

That man was interferring with the flight crew. Why no warnings to him???

Re: Video of passenger confronting Delta 5635 pilots last we

anyway, seeing junk like this makes me less and less want to fly airline stuff.

id rather fly a "small" <20 seater where the passengers are clinging to the arm rests for dear life and so terrified that they are just overjoyed to make it ANYWHERE in one piece!

:-D

Re: Video of passenger confronting Delta 5635 pilots last we

Freight looks like a damn good option for my future in aviation.:D

Re: Video of passenger confronting Delta 5635 pilots last we

Why does he keep talking about his health, and what does "escalate a list" mean?

Why would he call a government rep because of a flight delay??

Re: Video of passenger confronting Delta 5635 pilots last we

The kicker is the end conversation with the ramper....lightning. I would guess the ramp was closed or had been closed and opened as storms were passing.

Good on the Capt for initially not wanting to talk, but he should of just asked the pax to take his seat and then closed the door. The Capt does not answer to the passenger, if someone in the back was having a true medical problem, ie the infant was in distress, that should be made aware to the crue and those paxs removed from the aircraft.

So you want to fly the EMB-125 into OXR or SBA. :D

Re: Video of passenger confronting Delta 5635 pilots last we

My take on this situation is that of the flight crew.

First off the aircraft in question does have an APU but with a ground stop in place it could be awhile before they takeoff and well Comair is not gonna want a APU running for 4 hours if they are are flying to DTW.

Secondly, The flight crew did the best they could by opening the doors every once in awhile to allow fresh air circulate throughout the cabin so they were sitting in this crap just like the passengers

Thirdly, Its JFK and NYC.......delays are part of the game. If you dont like the delays then have your "congressman" give more money to FAA and DOT to make the airports better. :D

thats all i have for right now since i am meeting with a Chief FAA inspector out of FAR tomarrow and need to make sure I am ready to answer his wonderful questions of instructor knowledge.

Re: Video of passenger confronting Delta 5635 pilots last we

Too bad the -200 doesn't have that recirc fan.

Re: Video of passenger confronting Delta 5635 pilots last we

Are the pilots even allowed to open the flight deck doors while not at the gate?

I dunno... Is blowing hot air around better then no air at all?

I'm not sure why the door is open. Technically it should be shut, although on a 4 hour ground stop with the plane not going anywhere I've seen the door remain open before.

Re: Video of passenger confronting Delta 5635 pilots last we

Unless the world is ending or there has just been some Earth-shattering event (Earthquake, 9/11, etc), there is no reason for people to be stuck on the ground in the plane for 4 hours.

Not blaming the crew, but the airline is Teh Suk for even trying to justify this one.
