As long as we're talking about hearing, I have a question.
Do ANR headsets protect your hearing, or just make the environment more comfortable?
From what I understand ANR helps cancel out low noises. However, isn't it vibration that causes hearing damage? If that's the case, the way I see it is the vibrations are still present.
I'm just trying to figure out if I should drop 700 dollars on a Stratus 50D once I get on the line and start flying the Saab 340. I really want to protect my hearing, but I also want to pay off my 5 digit debt.

Granted, there is a gross factor. But given their success, I would "get over it" to save my skin, or my foot, or my fingers, or whatever the problem area is.
