I don't get it,
Being owned by SkyWest they have such low requirements than SkyW? Are they trying to make ASA another FO hiring pool like Mesa

I just looked at ASA's website and it said:

Minimum Requirements:
1200 hours total time
200 hours multi-engine time
100 hours within the last six months

Also, I heard they are a black-listed airline, is that true?

ASA new hire training is kinda like a bridge program for going to Skywest. Jet hungry young pilots with 500ish hours come out of XYZ Academy or wherever with fresh rj drool frothing out of the side of there mouth, get hired by ASA, then when they hit Skywest minimums they go there and act like they are steely veterans who know everything about "the airlines", alpa, and the crj. Then comes the whining about how they should be getting second year pay even though they were at ASA for only nine and a half months and that Skywest should get an ATL base so they dont have to commute.

WTF?? LOL!!

With the frustration I'm having at my current gig, finally meeting someones mins, and the overall loveliness of ATL, I'm having a hard time holding back...:sarcasm:

I'm disappointed that ASA has slowly turned into the laughing stock of the regional world.

Why have we diverted our attention away from overall challenges that the regional 121 world faces? (Work rules, QOL, Pay, lack of union representation).

Are we simply laughing at ASA because of misconceptions and forum stereotypes?

Or are we directly the laughing and any anger towards management (Big Brother SKW) for the lack of a contract for oh. . . what. . . 4 years?

Nevertheless, I hope I don't get urinated on when / if I get on with ASA. As an Atlanta native, I'd love nothing more than to fly for ASA - initially - and then Suthernjets Intanashunal.

But. . . I must just be an Academy pilot dude foaming at the mouth to get to an RJ.

I just wonder how deep the pool is. :(

I just got a call from ASA a couple of weeks ago. 13 months after I sent them my app! I'm surprised they still had it.

Latest update is that ASA will be hiring 20 pilots per week between now and May 07. Current attrition is 20 pilots a month.
In related news, there has been quite a bit of movement in contract negotiations. Hmmm. Think they might want it signed now before the majors start competing for the pilots as well?

We have to hire 180 pilots by May, so I hear, so the mins have been lowered. Eventually it will be lowered on the site, but who knows when.

About the black listed, wtf? Whose black list? What black list? And for what?

Older thread, a lot of it got erased when the server went down. All of that was cleared up and I guess I was mistaken, I just heard a rumor that is all.

Hello,

Looks like am going for yet another 121 Airline Interview: Got the call on Friday from ASA (Mr. Robertson). My logbook stats about 1370TT and 125 MEL. Had a phone conversation with approximate 25 questions the standard type. And then said we would like to invite you for an interview in Atlanta, GA. It is a 2 day ordeal. I'll have the written and formal interview on day 1 and if all is well go on to the Sim and urine test on day two then fly home.

I am aware of the postings at www.aviationinterviews.com and have the ATP written finished. So can review those as well. Anyone who is currently online with ASA and has gone through the interview not so long ago please chime in!

Thanks,

20 pilots per week.......damn. It sucks watching the industry have somewhat of a boom and me not being old enough to get in...

Good Luck, Again! Maybe this will be the one. Hopefully you have learned something from the other interviews to make this one successful.

How long did you have your app in before they called you? What questions did you get asked on the phone interview?

You're far enough back right now, that you shouldn't have to worry about it. I'd be more worried if I were just getting my CFI. Aren't you a future military jet jockey, anyway?

Yeah well, I have to get a pilot slot in the first place. I feel like a whole lot of weight will be lifted off of my shoulders once I get my first flying job.
How are things going for you at the new company??
