NJC East Coast

Actually BOS would be fun....

The Alley..Boston Beer Works...The Fours...

Fond memories of the two years I lived there..

Cabrini Green one of them?

:)

Haha, yes, that is one. The projects are going the way of the dodo, however.

The only question about all these cities is, what types of aviation activities can we do at each? How easily accessible are these activities? How much will the activities cost, if anything? Will it be something career related, or just an aviation museum? I'd think we should find someplace that would allow some activities that would expose the membership to some assets of an aviation career, then in the evening enjoy a good restaurant and some lively fun! After all, I think the best part of NJC is that it is an opportunity to make connections, relax and make new friends, but at the same time learn something new through a new experience (like the sims, interview prep, tours, etc.).

we could do nyc that is easy for me. bos is easy and so is phl since the train is literally right outside my door. when are the dates and times you will be here?

It hurts to say being from Brooklyn, but NYC really wouldn't be a good choice for an NJC IMO. Granted transportation is real easy and the things to do list is huge, but finding a place to stay for a reasonable price is damn near impossible. Nightlife is quite a bit expensive as well, particularly in Manhattan. Not saying that Vegas is dirt cheap by any means, but as a whole I think it would be cheaper than NY. On the other hand, I've got a big kitchen area that can fit several cots/sleeping bags of guests... :)

Oh there not going away (ghettos)...there just going to the suburbs. Large cities like Chicago want people to move back to the city from the suburbs for city tax purposes!

They're doing it here in PHX with condo's downtown starting at $300k! Where it used to be a sprawling ghetto. Or just run down houses or apartments!

Yikes...

I am near NYC or BOS, and I'd have to vote Boston hands down. And DC... kind of boring and not as much to do, IMO.

I voted ORD since it's a) a bit closer to me b) like Matt said, it's got good public transportation c) Like Matt said there's plenty of aviation stuff (despite Daley's best efforts). Now that I mention Daley, maybe we could organize a JC demonstration outside his office. :) Oh, and isn't Boeing's HQ in Chicago now?

inner harbor baltimore anyone? NYC is fun, but very pricey to stay. Never spent any real time up in CHI town, so that would be fun!

Seems to me, Kristie, that people are already voting for where they would like the "JC Network East" to be held, rather than actually reading the question in the poll....

:D

<I almost did too. :bandit: >

No no... I followed directions and voted for where I was living near in the poll...

...then voted for where I would like it to be in the posts.:)

Arrroooo?......Not that I live in DC or anything, but not much to do in DC? :insane:

You are kidding right? With all the monuments and memorials, not to mention the Simthsonian Institute museums. The museums alone would take you months, if not years, to see everything......Air and Space museum anyone???? United has a major hub at IAD, US Airways has a big operation in DCA.

But I don't live in any of the cities in the vote so...........on w/ the voting for those that do. ;)

Umm... I meant in an NJC type of way... bars and clubs... yeah... Georgetown and Adams Morgan is okay... but Northern VA is a mess... too spread out, too many people and too much traffic. I dunno... just wouldn't think it would be that great of a venue for a NJC event.

Well, I definitely agree w/ you on this one! :) The traffic is completely out of control.
But I think we could make it doable in an NJC sense. But, again, what do I know......I don't live there.

I voted twice.

Well, because I live in both places... :D

Come on Cruise, ABE is pretty close to EWR/NYC... I mean, if all else fails you can always jump on one (or ten) of our daily diversions there from EWR!

Well I could be a tad biased because I did live there for quite a while... stepping out of my own shoes for a bit I can see how DC could be okay, especially for people who haven't lived there.

The inner harbor is pretty badass...the rest of baltimore on the other hand...:-P

I'll probably be living right across the bay from Annapolis so that would definately be doable for me at a later date.

well, it sounds like NYC would be out because of the expense...

the offer that seggy has forward sounds like it could work but how far away from the airport is it and can we get there by train and foot? how far from ACity? It is in residential and/or are there hotels near by?

I'm really trying to eliminate the need for ANY cars...or high expense for cab - train is literally best since we can all fit on a train at once and it allows for a larger amount of traveling area....

DC...it'd be ok if we stay near crystal city or something like that because that's near the smithsonian and train access... but how do we go about getting out to the museum at IAD cuz i know IAD airport does NOT have train service.

CHI sounds possible and yes, i know it's more midwest..but it's still east to me! haha

Inner harbor baltimore.. never heard of it...need more info to put it into consideration.

MIA doesn't sound too favored but I think it's the only location that pengy can get us Boeing Sim Lessons...
