Learjet 60 crash in West Palm Beach

Could be... Could be the refresh rate of the camera. We saw this with the last PJ crash where the stills made it look like the wing was missing.

No •.

I’m asking if they sounded distressed over the radio. Obviously.

Here's a comment I saw on Reddit just now that summarizes it so nobody else listens to it:

"She checks in with a PIPREP about some moderate turbulence and icing. She says “we are managing the icing but we have moderate turbulence. If you can find us a better ride let us know”. ATC replies that the ride should smoother out ahead.

She comes back on to say “we are now entering precip we need to climb” ATC gives a climb to 37000. She responds.

Next line she is clearly panicking, saying they are descending at 6000fpm and increasing and declares an emergency shortly after.

Beyond that it becomes graphic, best I can give you without making it too graphic is that she’s screaming and mentioning they are descending at over 20k feet per minute this point. It becomes very clear when they break through the clouds and can see the ground….her reaction to that made me cry and I don’t want to share that part. Please do not listen to the audio, I’m wishing I did not.

Those audios are already sobering. Have heard enough CVRs and HUD audios of pilots that i both knew and didn’t know, in the final moments of their lives. The ones that didn’t know what was coming was one thing, the ones who were very well aware of what was coming up, was another entirely.

Icing ? Coffin corner speed exceeded (@FL 350) ?
The fuzzy pic from the dashcam seems to depict a missing horizontal stabilizer (May just be a video artifact, we don't yet know for sure).
Weather could be a factor (icing)
The first holes in the swiss cheese model I can think off.
Just horrible and sad !

I'm hearing the horizontal stabilizer detached from the aircraft. Not sure if that was before they were in a dive or that's what caused the dive.

Having flown and stalled Lears (on purpose), I can absolutely see a scenario where they were getting bounced around enough to get a shaker and stall if the ISA changed enough at that altitude. Although I wouldn't put 350 in the coffin corner realm.

I could see them stalling, instantly dropping a wing because of the turbulence, and the PF pulling to try and recover which would certainly rip the tail off with a load like that.
