West Palm Beach, FL (March 31, 2026) — On March 30, 2026, Governor Ron DeSantis signed legislation transferring to the State of Florida the authority to name major commercial service airports, including Palm Beach International Airport (PBI). Under the law, PBI will be renamed “President Donald J. Trump International Airport,” pending all required approvals, including Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval. The legislation affects only the airport’s name. Operations, ownership and governance by Palm Beach County, as the owner of PBI, remain unchanged. The law takes effect July 1, 2026.

The legislation does not change the airport’s code, PBI. Separate federal legislation regarding the code has been introduced. Any change would follow the FAA’s established review process.

“We remain committed to offering a safe, efficient and welcoming experience for all travelers,” said Palm Beach County Mayor Sara Baxter. “As the airport moves through this name change, it will continue to serve as the trusted gateway our community relies on.”

Transition activities, including updates to signage, branding and public‑facing materials, will occur in phases. A state appropriation to support these efforts may be provided, but it remains pending. Airport operations and services will continue without interruption. PBI appreciates the continued patience and support of its travelers throughout this transition.

“Our goal throughout this transition is to keep everything easy and familiar for our passengers,” said Director of Airports Laura Beebe. “Our team will be working behind the scenes to implement the required updates, and travelers will continue to enjoy the same smooth, convenient and friendly experience they expect.”

It seems odd that anyone is grumpy about renaming airports, I used to work at Bob Hope and travel to John Wayne occasionally. I was never offended. I also don't understand folks that think he renamed it. I know it gets your nether regions all worked up to argue about it. Who cares? Is the identifier going to change to KDJT? Because that'd be funny.

Because he wants to rename everything after himself? Classic narcissist.

It isn’t about naming as a tribute, such as other airports named after former POTUS. This is about grifting through merch sales and licensing.

From the docket:

*ADD-ON / (ADMINISTRATION) / Staff recommends motion to approve: a
Naming Rights and License Agreement (Agreement) with DTTM Operations, LLC
(DTTM) and President Donald J. Trump (collectively, Licensor), providing for the
perpetual, non-exclusive use of the name “President Donald J. Trump International Airport” in accordance with Chapter 2026-15, Laws of Florida 2026 (Act) for the renaming of the Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) at no cost to the County. SUMMARY: The Agreement authorizes Palm Beach County to use the name “President Donald J. Trump International Airport” (Licensed Mark) for
the renaming of PBI as required by the Act. The Agreement becomes effective upon approval and remains in perpetuity unless Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval is denied or revoked, the Act is amended to change the airport name, or the airport name is otherwise lawfully changed. The Agreement grants the County non-exclusive right to use the Licensed Mark for all reasonable and
customary airport purposes, including signage, advertising, marketing, merchandising, promotion, and branding of airport operations, services, and amenities. It defines permitted uses and provides for approved stylized version of the Licensed Mark, detailing the required visual design elements. Variations require prior approval of the Licensor. The Agreement also grants the County rights to use pre-approved name, likeness, image, and biographical information
of President Donald J. Trump (Trump NIL) solely for marketing, advertising, and
promotional purposes related to the renamed airport. If the County or any airport retailer wishes to sell merchandise featuring the Licensed Mark, the Agreement requires such merchandise to be purchased through approved retailers to the extent permitted by law. The Licensor is prohibited from receiving royalties, fees, or revenue from the purchase or sale of any such merchandise by County
or airport retailers. This restriction does not apply to promotional items distributed free of charge by County. The Agreement requires the County to indemnify the Licensor for claims arising out of the County’s ownership,
operation, maintenance, or control of the airport, as permitted by law. To comply
with the requirements of Act, a request for approval of the name change will be
submitted to the FAA following approval of this item. Countywide (DO).

I prefer PBR. It’s about the quality not the taste after all…

I'm not kidding when I say, mix it with an equal portion of fresh-squeezed orange juice and it's an utterly delightful brunch accompaniment to your chosen plate of salt/fat/grease. Heavenly.
