E/A18 crash at airshow Mountain Home AFB

I can't imagine what they were doing at that speed and altitude that might require that sort of maneuvering. In this day and age, because I'm not smart enough to figure it out with any certainty, I question the validity of the video, is this real footage? It looks suspect but I'm not a pointy nose grey jet person. Not to mention reddit as a source should raise some red flags.

Crazy. They used to hold that airshow in Sept. evidently they moved it to May for this year to kick off America’s 250th.
That’s the second crash at that air show that I’m aware of. The thunderbird crashed there in 2003.

What’s the logic behind sending a high demand / low density asset to an airshow to do an aerial performance, in formation? Ok, send one for static display; but these aren’t regular Super Hornets, of which the USN has many. Growlers are specialized and are comparatively much fewer in inventory, than regular Super Hornets. Not sure the logic behind risking them in this way with airshow-type ops.

Dare I say… politics?

Yep. They g-limited Prowlers to add years to their airframes.

Airplanes crash, the thread immediately pivots to political nonsense. And this is why this site ain't what it used to be.
To be fair, you didn’t need to mention it either. Nor do you need to mention it in the majority of threads that you post to in order to justify your politics in your own head. “Airplanes crash” is a bit of a stretch when talking about an airshow maneuver in really high winds with several extremely expensive jets that taxpayers foot the bill for.
