To the Moon!

The lack of decent onboard cameras for live shots during launch is such a PR fail for NASA.

I know it’s not necessary, but you work off of public funds, it would go a long way with keeping tax payers engaged and excited.

The camera work was shockingly bad. Like, was that on purpose? They didn’t even show it clearing the launch tower, lol.

Relieved it was a good launch though.

Yea, stopped watching 10 minutes after launch when all they had up was space sim style video of the vehicle.

after they jettisoned the Launch abort system the commander said something like “we got a great view of the moon and we are heading right at it”

My response was”well that woulda been nice to see”

I want to see when my tax dollars are used for something actually important, like this.

i don’t really give af about the lack of footage vs spacex. elon shoots space junk into low earth orbit for basically free and doesn’t go anywhere, while owning a network of datalinks- they need the commercial footage

I should also say I hope this mission is successful, they had a glitch with the toilet but I think they got it worked out. 10 days, four people and a broken toilet in space sounds like a nightmare. Some smartass said the heated seat was inop, couldn't be MEL'd and it was going to end up RTB. I have no clarification of the veracity of that claim.

My sister missed all the Apollo launches and was really into yesterday. I remarked how fecal the camera work was as compared to late 60's Apollo launches and made her go back and watch those.
Back during Apollo, you had Walter Cronkite narrating and science correspondent Jules Bergman covering the launches and describing technical aspects and putting them in layman’s terms. Now, you have some internet “reporter” remarking how the ground is shaking and other nitwit observations.
