Spirit back in chapter 11

How much did this cost?

All 5 of us are flying Spirit tomorrow Dec 19, looking forward to it. Long live Spirit! :)

Check your gates before you drop off. I had a running/bus/running AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! moment when I had to haul from the ‘normal’ parking to TBIT remote (200 gates).

And… I thought I gave myself tons of time to saunter to the terminal.

I have a funny story involving a weirdo old captain and that mile long hallway to customs in TBIT…

T5 closed so as far as I know, it’s checkin at T2, drop bags here, and then inside T2 some sort of shuttle to the MSC. Right?

Flight at 1010pm. I’m thinking of leaving home at 6pm.

At a $500K annual income you can afford to fly private now. Show up 5 minutes before departure - good to go!
$500k annual income does not equal flying private and you know it, at least for a practical person, maybe it makes sense to him?

I had round trip tickets to Buenos Aires leaving five days after Pan Am went tits up. Love the article about Braniff's shutdown - how they tried to recall the 747 halfway to HOU and the Captain said pound sand. Anyway. In my fantasy story:

CC and fam do not have non-stop tickets. At a stop, SPIRIT dies and like Braniff it is all...see ya suckers, we outie! And then, CC don't know what to do when in the distance he sees a vision...a black man of average height, resplendent in the double-breasted attire that all REAL PILOTS aspire to. At that moment he humbly asks @derg ..."Please good sir, can you help my family make it to our destination...we deserve it, we booked tickets "the right way"".

At this point a million things are flooding through Dergs head...the constant crapping on Delta...the bot-like monotony and lack of insight on political matters and history...his overwhelming lack of empathy for anyone besides a very narrow subset...should Derg succumb to his inner-Velocipede and say "YER BANNED FROM MY JUMP SEAT!"

Alas, the better angels of Dergs nature prevail and he finagles free first class passage on FLY DELTA JETS and Christmas is saved.

I've never flown on Spirit but I'd imagine their non-stops are like Portland to San Fransisco, sort of like Amtrak or Greyhound. He's going cross country, he will have at least one lay-over, and a lay-over is always where what can go wrong will go wrong, especially during the holidays. Doug doesn't have five jump seats, are toddlers allowed on the flight deck?
