Speaking of...tell me their isn't a sexier looking jet airliner than the Convair 880. I dare you.

There certainly is. No, the certain death is not detractor from its sexiness.

The problem with the Comet is they screwed up the tail. From nose to nacelles to square windows it is so sexy. Then they stick this old school looking tail on it. It just screws up the vibe. That is an even worse sin in my book than in-flight disintegration. Remember darlings, it's better to look good than to feel good.

I was looking for tickets from PHL to RDU and the only direct flight was Frontier. We’re going to drive the 6 hours instead.

I pretty sure American flies this like 5 times a day. It's hub to (almost) hub.

Long ago when PHL was a USAir hub and not a AA hub, I did a 4 day trip where I just did 3 turns between the two places every day. It sucked.

Huh you are correct. Strange it didn’t show up in my first search. Granted it was a cursory, quick google rather than looking for specific tickets

During one of my father’s more crazy fleet expansion moments (with a 4-0-4 we couldn’t take care of) there was serious discussion about a Convair 880.

My grandpa flew 404's after he was senior enough to move on from flying the DC-3 engine carrier. He liked the airplane.

It is a very pleasant airplane. Though I would prefer them to stay static, myself.
Every time I hear someone talk about a 4-0-4, I can't help but think of this...

I voted for pure incompetence. I mean the last de ice vender we had put only type IV on top of snow filled wing. What’s the worst that could happen, right?
My current employer has us away from specifying what fluids and where, which is great until you go to the most offline of offline stations on a charter, and they no speaky-the-new-way, and so on.
