You can technically get to terminal D on the train. You'd just have to walk across terminal C. It's a good 15 minute walk though.

The driver could have accidentally accelerated instead of braking. I will be curious to see what comes of this incident. It was bizarre. People were still being evacuated from the "lounge" when I arrived.
