Cherokee's Delta Rants from "Alaska Hawaiian Merger"

It's available on certain flight segments where there is a higher-than normal encroachment of ULCC's.

But facts aren't what's important. What's important are… feelings. :)
JetU says I always bounce stuff off of you so I won’t comment. He gets butt hurt.

That’s for Delta Main not Basic. Just looked in the app. Basic isn’t available on that flight.

I see it now.

Correction now, to:

For 4 people. $480 plus seats and bags. Or $2596 plus seats and bags?

Bought the Spirit fare, seats were $36 each.

So 120+36 =156

KEEP in mind, that neither Spirit or Delta guarantee family seating. So on both carriers, I have to pick the fare category that includes seat picking (on Delta that’s something higher than Basic Exonomy). And on Spirit, pick the Value (cheapest) fare and then pick+pay seats.

Total 480 fare plus 144 seats = $624. Grand total for 4 people.

Delta ticket for one passenger = $649

4 people on Spirit doesn’t even touch 1 passenger price on Delta, for that redeye on Fri night. Ouch!

I don’t get hurt. On anything Delta, you have to team tag with Derg, Roro, or another Delta pilot. You’re just not original.

I digress from this whole topic. Others have already chimed in on guarantee family seating on Basic economy fares, so I know y’all get it. And realize Delta doesn’t while literally every other legacy does.

Well, it appears that you are free to enjoy whatever level of service you prefer on a competing carrier.

This is good news, right? :) Of course you expect some government mandate.

Of course there’s govt mandates. Airlines don’t just do things out of the goodness of their hearts. It’s just that this isn’t related to flight/MX safety, rather it’s a convenience, so it doesn’t gain a lot of traction. Kudos to the shops that abide by it. Literally everyone else except DAL/NK/ALG.

Understood, I probably would have done the same thing if it was my money.

I’ll go for luxuries later. Atm, that extra $2000 I can put towards my mortgage principal and pay that off sooner saving 6.625% interest.
Scene: one of CC's kids asks for a second bowl of gruel.
CC: "I'll go for luxuries later. At the moment the cost of that extra bowl of gruel can be put towards my mortgage principal and pay that off sooner saving 6.265% interest".

A noun, a verb, "my (mortgage/401k)" for example, "I'd order extra fries, but I'm going to put that toward my 6.265% mortgage that no one wondered about" or "I know we shouldn't have killed 2 million people by randomly nuking Luxembourg, but my 401k is on fire too!"

Baseball has the Mendoza line to measure offensive production. I propose we create "The CC line" for baseline investment performance. If you can generate an investment return greater than the tax- affected mortgage rate of 6.265% then you are investing "above the CC line" but if not, you should pay down debt.

So @Cherokee_Cruiser are you suggesting that the most profitable airline in the US, and second most profitable in the world needs to adjust their pricing model to fit your particular needs or that matches their competitors that aren't as successful? If you were a shareholder (and they pay dividends) would you think that's a good idea?

Is this any different than taxing corporations to help pay for lower/middle class stuff? I would think a left leaning JC would actually prefer this for families.

If it’s a big enough issue, customers will choose someone else or pony up the dough. I chose someone else. To each their own.

Yes.

Which is hilarious.

He can literally afford first class non stop tickets, but doesn’t “want” to.
