Looking at Google Maps, it appears the engine debris is about 8500 feet down the runway. The area on the ground impacted appears to be an industrial area with a bunch of scrapyards and warehouses, so hopefully fatalities on the ground are minimal.

Right engine looks to been dragged through the ground and the papi on the departure end, left engines on fire…1 left wasn’t enough.

They’re only saying that based on the FlightRadar24 playback which shows 175 ft. Not sure how accurate that is.

The justification for EMAS is usually inadequate RSA or RESA, often as a result of a road or terrain versus a populated area.

I can’t imagine how much EMAS would be needed to stop a loaded MD-11 at Vr speeds.
