Nuuk, Greenland

Wanted to make it up here during seasonal flying. Loads have been very light so I’m just not sure if it will continue next year, though I really hope it does. Not a lot to do in Nuuk, can comfortably see everything there is to see in the city in one day. Spent 6 days here doing some boat tours/expeditions. The two day “glamping” expedition and the catch and cook expedition were my favorite. The pictures don’t do it justice. It’s like another planet up there. The terrain is breathtaking. If you get a chance to do it, do it.

Awesome photos! I’m thinking of non-reving on it just to do it. Looks like the flight goes in on Wed/out Thu morning.

It is unfortunate that this service started around the same time the US started making noise about taking Greenland.

Looks like a beautiful place; be welcome tourists and have a good time!

Definitely worth the trip. Nuuk Watertaxi for all your tour needs. HHE Express for a inexpensive (relatively) hotel.

There was definitely signs of that nonsense. A lot of Greenland is not for sale t-shirts.

One thing about Nuuk, that UA kind found out after the fact. No ground handling when winds hit 35 or 40kts.

Since they use airstairs.

They had a plane in Nuuk for a few days longer than they wanted.

It’s definitely challenging weather wise there.

The approach doesn’t get you down very low and there are not a lot of good divert options. I believe right now there’s an old military base north of Nuuk they can use and then it’s pretty much Reykjavik.

I was looking at some of the other stories from that author on the AeroXplorer site Vice got that story from, one of which is Alaskan announcing 787 service to London & Rejyavik service from Seattle, and included this snazzy livery.

(I just thought it was neat; please don’t turn this into another fractious Alaska thread.)

I’ll be honest I’m about as cynical as they get about rebrands and I….don’t hate this one
