Open FedEx position

Anyone know what the application/interview process and timeline is like at this company? Is there an assessment/knowledge test here just like with the airlines, and do they strongly prefer international dispatch experience or would you still be highly considered without international experience? The job post does not mention that international experience is required, but the "knowledge, skills and abilities" section does mention "international regulations and ICAO weather."

I’ve know of people with domestic experience get picked up, if you work for a FedEx feeder it’s a plus

Do they start at reduced pay or have they matched AAL/DAL/UAL? Last I heard is that starting pay was around 100k. Got a friend thinking of making the jump from the 135 side.

Looks like we’re both failing at the ball note here. As cargoman pointed out, the spreadsheet has override info. It’s between 96-99k to start, depending on the premium.
thanks!

Do you think there’s benefits for having a union then Not having a union such as FDX or JetBlue?

They keep us in line with the mainline pax carriers. They do a pay review every year to make sure we are within industry standard.
They absolutely do not keep us in line with any mainline pax carriers!!! If they did then why do we continuously lose good dispatchers to those same mainline carriers that you say “we are in line with”? We are VERY under paid compared to the industry standard mainline pax carriers when you look at real cost of living and override numbers and not the skewed Memphis numbers that are put out! Don’t lie to the people!

Firstly, they should keep in like with mainline pax carriers, especially since the flight benefits will never be the same, and boxes are nocturnal, and an overnight career isn’t exactly what people are chasing.

That said, industry standard and COL are very different things. I don’t believe any airline considers COL, do they? I think it’s only $ for $ comparison against their competitors.

If you’re not happy then leave? There’s always going to be a portion of people that have “the grass is greener on the other side” syndrome. Some people also leave because they can’t stand Memphis. Let’s face it, it’s not a great city by any means and it has a ton of problems. We make a lot of money, and do relatively very little in regard to workload compared to dispatchers at the pax carriers. We get tons of time off, especially with the ability to do unlimited swaps. We don’t even work a 40 hour work week! We have a super chill management that isn’t riding our asses. I’m golden handcuffed being at the top of scale, but I can’t blame any of the younger dispatchers if they want to chase money or a company with better flight benefits, etc. Personally I value other aspects of a company over just purely looking at the dollar signs.

They do consider cost of living for FDX. I know people have tried to argue that "Delta gets this, United gets that" and they argue that 1. Atlanta and Chicago are way more expensive to live in and 2. They are pax carries so they try to compare with UPS for the most part.

They do show a chart comparison with pax airlines at the pay review every year, but it's adjusted to cost of living. This was all before Fred died. Now? Who knows. Feels like they want to run this place into the ground and were just waiting on him to pass so that they could do it. I hope I'm wrong!!! I've been here double digit years and even I'm thinking of trying to get on somewhere else. It's just not the same FedEx that everyone used to love.
