American Airlines ALPA

And often it’s not really true. Sure, the front end is shiny, but more often than not the back end is still some creaky old mainframe grinding away in some cave in Oklahoma.

It does make me chuckle when newbs say “it’s like DOS!”, as if all computing began with that (and I’m assuming they’re talking about MSDOS).

Have you gotten a chance to play with the new system yet? It’s pretty nice. A good part of Flight Operations is already using it but when it gets “gen pop” there’s going to be caterwauling, cheese moving, gnashing of teeth and Belter protests. Ha! )

I would love to see that finally happen. The Mormon Mob has been very successful for decades at stuffing union drives there.
The Student Council President over at OO stepped down due to what ever was going on there.

Hopefully the union drive works out!

He was dumber than a 👜 of ⚒️. His whole deal was "Make SkyWest Great Again," with literally everything that entails, and people were stupid enough to be convinced that it somehow sounded good. (Or they just voted to burn it all down, not realizing how bad things could actually get.)

This OC has it together, for sure. I'm hoping, and they have my sword if they call for it.

That said, I'm probably going to retire from the airlines as soon as I can escape, so I may not be around for the vote.

Due to the complete and utter lack of trip ownership and soft pay/rigs in AA's contract I make 2/3 of what someone at my same longevity and seat does at DL/UA and that's the bottom line. The dues would more than pay for themselves. I fly more straight time here than I did at my regional, its honestly unbelievable most days.

AA's pilot workforce is a complete bargain as a whole compared to UA/DL, full stop.
Ah but do they have IMAX? Suckers.

Them getting trolled by whoever made the SWA buys JetBlue memo was the chef's kiss.
There have been a few times they've thought they had "BREAKING" news and it was a total hoax that they've had to retract.

Perhaps one should invest in fact checkers?

The 717s going away soon? Or sooner than later?

I heard the A319/A320 fleet referred to as "classics" the other day and winced. They're not wrong.

I note that the average age of Delta's 767-300ER fleet is 28.8 years,
while the A320 (specifically) is 29.0 years.

Can't say that to my coworkers, nor tell them that our job is to mainly fly at night.

"That's not what my buddy said! I should be making 150+ credit hours a month to afford the $800,000 house I bought in Collierville on first-year pay!"
The COVID honeymoon was nice for some. For others it was not. Coming to a cargo company and expecting to not fly at night is bizarre. I will say the eye opening part about here that idk if this happens at purple is starting at 1am on the west coast and ending at 1-2pm out east. On paper the duty time isn’t too crazy but it’s rough on the body.
