Oh Virgin

The other day we got a status message and the Captain called maintenance saying I pushed something I should not have pushed. And maintenance asked what I pushed lol.
If that Captain was kidding, that’s pretty funny!
If not, the Captain is a tool! Hard flying with people like that,,,

I got called, after I’d already quit, about picking up premium

I heard a story from a ground school classmate about someone in Indic at their precious airline that’s probably BS but I choose to believe it because I want to.

Crew scheduling from his former airline called to junior man him while he was sitting in class at his new airline. He was like “ok, I’ll be there” and hung up.

Hey, you aren't qualified. Lets take what otherwise should be a normal flight, normal crossing, and a normal landing in New York, and take this unqualified FO and have him declare an emergency, coordinate with ATC to find an area to dump fuel, go build a hold over there, then dump fuel, then return for a landing. I don't know the A330, maybe in leiu of all that, forget the dumping and go back and land overweight at LHR?

Sorry, but go land at New York.
File an ASAP.
DH the FO home.
DH a new qualified FO to NYC.

Problem solved. Far cheaper, far safer. I can't imagine a result other than a FAA slap-on-the-wrist morning English Black Tea for Virgin Atlantic.
Dude they just turned around and landed it wasn’t that dramatic. Furthermore, no thanks on sending someone unqualified over the tracks. What kind of stupid suggestion is this?

I get it, the company made a decision.

For return to LHR, fuel dump? Overweight landing?

Flying a track in an ADS-C and CPDLC equipped airplane. Chances of having to go off track and divert, versus normal landing in NY?

(Side note, not enough info in terms of what made it unqual FO).

And here I thought we were talking about my, uh, "performance" when I was deflowered by my more experienced girlfriend. Glad we aren't reliving those memories. Oh Virgin (Atlantic)...

Equivalent level of safety doesn't really apply until you are in ETOPS airspace. There are a whole lot of SHALL NOTs that are in play until you get there.

And dumping gas on the 330 is pretty straight forward.

I get it. I’m just playing the devils advocate. Even if fuel dumping is straightforward (Delta gave kids in LA a free shower once), all I’m saying is you’re turning a almost all likely non-eventful flight into an eventful one.

Yes, my shop would have turned turned the plane back to/from Hawaii too.
