Flight dispatcher programs

Been thinking of becoming a flight dispatcher, but not sure what school to go to that offer the best chance of being successful in this field. I know Sheifferd is great from all the reviews I have read so what about IFOD or Jeppesen are those good programs as well? And how about ATP flight school dispatcher program in Dallas? Only considering that school since I would need a loan to attend and they seem to be the only one that offer student loans through Sallie Mae and Wells Fargo which I think are easier to qualify for then personal loans. Any assistance you guys can give a newbie would be greatly appreciated.
 
Sheffield, IFOD, Jeppesen are considered the top 3. There are a handful of other smaller places out there. Any of them are fine, just get your license and learn the basics. Check out the pinned FAQ thread we have for more information.

Also, please do not get a student loan from Sallie Mae, you will regret it. Not that Wells Fargo is a much better establishment.

Just pick one. It really doesn't matter. Get your certificate, take the first gig you can find and go from there. If you apply yourself you'll be fine.

Why is taking a loan from Sallie Mae so bad?

I hear people say that on here but considering most programs cost roughly the same I want to go to the one that gives me the best opportunity of getting a job with the highest pay starting out.

Considering that regionals all pay roughly the same terrible pay... your certificate will not get you a better offer. No one has ever asked where I got mine at during an interview. What is more important is being well prepared to interview. I had my 1st gig 3 weeks after getting my certificate. On the spot offer. And yes, I went to a no name school. But feel free to beat yourself up about choosing one.

It's a scummy company that will find any way it can you screw you out of more money. They are not to be trusted. Dispatch schools aren't that expensive, so I'd suggest try to barrow money from a relative or save up the cash. If you can't do that I'd try to find a personal loan through a reputable local credit union.
 
Yeah... my dispatch course was roughly $4000 - not a huge amount - check with local banks, get a personal line of credit, or if you're able to pay it down *quickly*, just use a credit card to pay for it.
 
If you've got decent credit, I suggest looking into signing up for a credit card that offers a promotional 0% interest period and putting it on that. You'll have up to 21 months interest free to pay it off, which should be very easy to do, even on regional pay.

Agreed. On top of that, you get regular emails from the director of the program with job openings all over.
 
I have been doing research for a Dispatch School & IFOD in Dallas, Sheffield at Plantation & Jeppesen at Denver had the most ratings. As a International Student I made extensive research on all the 3 institutions & emailed them, Sheffield was prompt in replying or replied within 24hrs, Jeppesen was the fastest in under 2-5hrs & IFOD is Mum been 5 days, so I guess IFOD is a Cross. Im leaning more towards Jeppesen, but the thing is There is no refund policy if I-20 is issued, Where as IFOD mentioned they will not charge the Tuition Fee until Visa is issued, Sheffield has a Return Policy as well, Jeppesen doesn’t, But Jeppesen suits my needs. Is there any international students out here who did the FOM 2 from Denver? Any leads would be appreciated.
 
Not trying to make assumptions but just want to make sure you are aware that US airlines won’t offer employment visas for dispatch, since you’re talking about needing a Visa for the training. Plenty of international airlines want the FAA cert, so if that’s what you’re going for great, but just want to make sure that is known.

Paincorp, I’m going for the FAA Dispatch rating, I will get a Job easily in South East Asia or Middle East where I live atm. I’m really not keen on working at any of the regionals anyways
