Possible 737 drone strike in Tijuana

I couldn't read the article without paying for it so I looked elsewhere. That's quite a bit of damage. Geeez.

Just saw it on the news. It's like texting while driving. Illegal as you-know-what, but due to sheer volume of occurrences, impossible to enforce.

It also hasn’t publicly stacked up a body count.... yet.

Look at your example with texting. The process and problem has been around over a decade, but it’s only recently when it has hit the unavoidably high numbers that people (and more importantly insurance providers) have put their voice up to say do something about this resulting in laws being passed.

Drone pilots and their flying FOD will continue to be a problem for the foreseeable because it is a burgeoning and new technology with no real known way to immediately regulate it like many other forms of technology.

Oh great, new scenario fodder for the SIM during recurrent.

Well I mean...

It actually creates some realism to the scenario of always “losing your engine” in the pattern. Before drones apparently every aircraft in the world was horribly unreliable, but only from the space between midfield downwind and touchdown....

Like I've always said... we've just got to get more -lots more- folks to start robbing banks!! Moral hazard? Where we're going, there is no moral hazard.

This is gonna be waaaaaay off topic but, Volaris, Vivaaerobus, Aero Mexico, and Interjet have literally siphoned off the entire mexican population that travels living in San Diego. I took the flight from Tijuana and not LAX because the friend traveling with me lived in SAN and SAN didn't have a direct flight. This is gonna cause some school fights in here but what are everyones thoughts on this? People living in the US, that came from Mexico are sending business to Mexican carriers instead of spending it back into our economy. That terminal was PACKED. The CBX bridge crossing into mexico was packed. Airbus after airbus was full and departing every few minutes. I understand the consumer is always going to go with the cheapest fare, but I'm starting to wonder how much of that discretionary income goes back into the Mexican economy instead of being spent here where the job is.

My German student that lives here and has a green card, runs his dads company. He drives a BMW(German made) and flies Lufhtansa back to Germany every few months so maybe its more common than I realize?

Meh,

American carriers syphon Canadian passengers all the time. I was riding the DTW bus the other day with some obvious Canadians (and the hottest Delta FO ever... but thats another story). They tell me about the lack of taxes and fare difference riding us, vs Air Canada. Their story isn't unique.

Not to mention, all sorts of trade wars Pres Trump is re-arranging, ticket fares on EU and Mexican Carriers aren't going to break anyones bank.
