Can't begin to comment upon the particulars. I would observe, however, that if they get any more Safe, it's going to be basically a six-ship flyover a la stadium passes. And if you're gonna go that route, they might as well be national guard and painted grey.

At least it looks like it was safety-related. I feared he was relieved as a result of a boob joke uttered while in junior high school.

From the article:
However, Tech. Sgt. Christopher Boitz, a spokesman for the Thunderbirds, said the crash was not the reason Leavitt dismissed Heard.

Sucks that his dismissal is so public, but I suppose such is the nature of the beast when one takes on such a role.

Tactical loops to music :)
You're just jealous that you were busy bug-smashing in the A-10 while these Gods among men were up in the heavens. In real jets. With the smoke on.

Just saw them with my boys at Andrews. My five year old slept through it, no joke. Must be the first time in history. Setting aside his judgement of the show, I must say they pale in comparison to the Blue Angels. Although, my opinion stage is quickly set when they stop the whole pageantry to don the g-suit. I guess the Navy and the Marine Corps just "hick" harder.
(in fairness, it was their 'low show', filled mostly with various types of fly-by's)

The T-birds greatly scaled back the wow factor in their shows compared to the Angels after the midair many years back.

oh right...I didn't realize my opinion was in fact, fact. That's too bad.
When I was in Yuma, we used to drive out to El Centro and watch them practice before the start of the season. Pretty cool hanging on the fence and looking behind the curtain. I suggest it to anybody who's in the area, although I can't remember when we'd go out there. A little google-foo could answer that...

2003 Dayton Air Show...

First and only time that both teams were allowed and scheduled for the same airshow since it was the 100 year anniversary in the Wright brothers home town...

It got interesting to watch the shows get more and more aggressive as they tried to on up each other and the Blues clearly left no doubt they were willing to go a lot further in that game.

I think you're confusing the thunderbirds with the Blue Angels.
