Lear 35 lands on taxiway at KTUS

This is why I always tune in the ILS. Actually now my fancy airplane does it for me with the correct course, even if I do nothing. So pretty much I'm still the biggest dummy to stay under the radar and have a zero incident/accident career. Go me.

Wouldn't have made a difference in this case. 11L/29R has been getting worked on for a few weeks now with pavement repair and markings repair, and is closed nightly from 2100-0500 for that work, being reopened in the morning. Along with that, the Localizer and GP for 11L has been out of service and will be until around the 17-18th of November.

11L/29R is the main runway. So, the airport is basically closed after 9pm? They should still get commercial flights in there till about 11pm.

Commercial flights operate off of 3/21 easily during the closure times, with the only issue being that 21 arrivals descend right through DMAs traffic pattern, so some sequencing is needed during those times. More especially when 21 is being used for hefty winds out of the west during the daytime. Rarely is 3 used.

Forgot about that runway, since so rarely used. Growing up I used to love rwy 21 arrivals and departures. NEVER seen a rwy 3 departure. But always wanted to.

11L/29R is currently shortened by about 4000'. Just a little bit ago, a UAL jet had to make a 360 in the dark on about a 5 mile final on the RNAV 29R after radar vectors to final that had them a bit tight.

Well good thing I was riding my mountain bike then. :D

The FAA should do something so pilots can distinguish the runway from the taxiway. That should stop pilots from landing on the taxiway.
Maybe they could put a number on the runway and not put one on the taxiway?
Also, what if they put a solid yellow line down the center of the taxiway and dashed white lines down the center of the runway?
For night/low visibility they could use one color along the runway edges, and a different color along the taxiway edges.
Until they implement something like this, pilots won't be able to differentiate between the runway and the taxiway.
