There is a former ASA guy in my upgrade class right now. The lateral move has worked for him.

1. Are you talking about ASA pilots who came to PSA and now regret their decision?
2. Any inkling as to why FO's bypassing upgrade?

Important to note, not everyone's right answer is the same. Mine was certainly different than the next guys. I made a lateral move, because I saw this coming, and wanted to be at the front of the pack. Some just couldn't make the move without being forced into it. I was lucky, and could.
Good luck folks. There is a lot of support out there. Get your apps in everywhere, even if it's at another regional. Keeping flying right now is more important than it has been in the past if you want to stack major cheddar.
That "held hostage" phrase works both ways.

There's about 100 or more FO's bypassing upgrade waiting to either hold the base they currently are at or until they can hold a line and SAP (schedule adjustment period - 24 hr period where round one lineholders can pretty much rearrange their schedule as they please as long as they have at min 65 hrs).
The difference in pay isn't enough for some FOs to make the jump.

A SKY jumpseater trying to get from AVL-ATL was denied by an ASA CA. Asked him how long he'd been with SKY and then said (paraphrasing here) "well I guess you can find your own way to Atlanta today".

Thanks for the answers CU. Yah, with the luxury of seniority and a growing list behind you, why not wait a few months and allow the desperate folks to fill in behind you and take the junk schedules. As they say, in this game, seniority is everything.
And as for the ASA CA denying a jumpseater. Dang. *goes to pop some popcorn*
I'm sure there's laughter in a lot of boardrooms whenever pilots take out their frustrations on other pilots.

There are several CAs at a large 737 operation that will only take 1 JSer and refuse the 2nd one because it's too tight

We're largely Type A control freaks. Companies do what companies are going to do with coldly little but usually zero regard for pilots because we're just a cog in a big contraption.
It'd be like me getting booted off the jumpseat for DL's decision to cut bait with Expressjet. I woke up to the news like everyone else and I assure you, if I called Atlanta to bemoan the decision to 86 ExpressJet but at best I'd get s voicemail box.

Get his name, I would be happy to return the favor to that SKW CA for his company taking some of our mainline routes.
Of course I am kidding, merely just pointing out the irony. Just another example of how management brainwashes the worker bees, and then turns the worker bees against each other.
The irony on top of irony is a Skywest pilot getting mad at an ASA pilot because ASA management took the flying Skywest was promised if they approved their latest agreement. It is so good to see the bowl still swirl in 2017.

I wouldn’t piss on Skywest management if they were on fire, but very few pilots grew up saying “I want to work at a company that undercuts the rest of the industry.”
We all went to work with whoever hired us, for better or worse.
That and I’d love to hear 51% of those guys justify their 1% pay raise so they can get the -900s that Endeavor just was assigned.
