How do you get to the island?
I thought about trying a ferry, but they seem too pricey and I really like flying, so I'll stick to that.
A bike would be really nice to have there. That's a LOT of walking otherwise. We always walk. One time we took a horse-driven taxi from the airport to town though. It was really cool.

I take the ferry. I think it was 20-30 per person for a round trip. Flying in is great, replying the the horse carriages is not. I was about to buy a couple folding bikes to throw in my plane but unforeseen circumstances arose and the plane is gone.

Here are a few I've been to that I liked in no particular order.
Skagway is cool
Cordova is pretty cool too - not the big airport, but the muni one.
Dutch Harbor is cool - though I'm not sure if it technically counts as a "GA" airport.
False Pass is stunningly beautiful.
In Hawaii I was particularly fond of Barking Sands (not sure if that counts as a GA airport either, but it's got a badass approach over beautiful beaches)
Also, in Hawaii, I thought Molokai was basically one of the coolest GA airports I've been to, fun slam dunk approach in the King Air, and beautiful scenery around.
In the lower 48 here are a few more I really liked,
In oregon Florence was cool
In Washington I really liked Bellingham
In the upper midwest I really liked Morey Middleton Airport - the people there were really nice, and I got to look at a Stearman that was parked there up close:
In the Southwest, Zuni was one of the coolest airports I've been to in the lower 48, but I can't find a picture that does it justice.
Those are just the ones that jump out at me. There are some other cool ones - I liked KRDM in OR, KDMN in ID (super friendly people there), and some other random airports in Wisconsin jump out - in particular KMNM struck me as a really cool place, and landing in KOSH (even though it wasn't during Airventure) was kind of a dream come true.

That part of the world is super beautiful to me in the same way that West Alaska is in the winter - its desolate and forbidding, but amazingly beautiful.

Added Beaver Island (SJX) to my logbook tonight.
