Okay, this Amelia Earhardt stuff is officially over the cliff . . .

This is about the most stupid "evidence" I've seen yet:

Amelia Earhart May Have Survived Crash-Landing, Newly Discovered Photo Suggests

Who the hell is still alive from that era that actually cares. Who the hell cares from our era for that matter.

I think it would be interesting if the spying story panned out and was held captive somewhere.

I'm more inclined to believe this story than I am that they died castaways on an island. It was a lot easier to keep secrets in the 1930s. Why would anyone take this photo if there wasn't something of interest in it?

Pretty intriguing if it's real. Surviving the crash/ditching and being taken prisoner by the Japanese has always been a theory, with several different personal accounts witnessing her in captivity.

Eggs-sackly! And at the end of the day isn't the real burning question, Mary Ann or Ginger?!? My vote..Mary Ann

Wait, what was this thread about?
Oh man, I was solidly in the Mary Ann camp as a kid but these days ..... it's a coin toss.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but how is a photograph the most stupid evidence yet of all the searches over the years?

I mean, if this photo [from the national archives?] is real, and the location in the photo's caption is real, then what's with the white guy and white woman in the picture?

And what is the ship in the background towing, anyway?

Isn't an actual image from a camera worth more than dozens of fruitless searches through the atolls by various groups?

Maybe we've all be conditioned to tossing this Amelia search stuff into the "this again? who cares..." section of our brain. I probably have.

But perhaps the answer is right in front of us in the form of a photograph.

It's the History Channel which probably means lots of speculation, not so deductive leaps, poor logic, and very little actual history.
