Rank the regionals

Similar to the thread ongoing right now ranking the majors. What are ya'lls opinions of the regionals? There seems to be quite a few of us just starting out so getting to more info about the regionals would be beneficial for us I think. Since there are a lot of them how about just listing your top 5 or 10?

From my own experiences I'd have to go with:
1) Skywest
2) Mesa
3) Envoy
4) Republic
5) ExpressJet (or CommutAir could go here depending on the day of the week lol)

1) SkyWest
2) ExpressJet
3) Endeavor
4) Envoy
5) Republic
6) Air Wisconsin
7) Trans States, GoJet, Compass (all owned by TSH, therefore pretty much all the same)
8) Mesa
9) CommutAir
10) PSA or Piedmont

Endeavor is up near the top. I haven't worked anywhere else so I can't pass too much judgement but I've enjoyed the year I've spent here. Pay (comparatively) isn't bad with the new retention bonus and there's a good group of people who work here. Plus it's Minneapolis, which for a recent college grad such as myself is a much better option than St. George, Dayton, Salisbury, Appleton, etc.

1. Skywest for pay/scope of flying but lower for location.
2. Mesa and Envoy for location and scope flying.
3. Horizon for pay and aircraft types.
4.Republic for type of aircraft, but unsure about placement for rest.

After that pretty much take your pick of the rest.

Intresting, I appreciate the answers

Hmm I am surprised to see ZW on this list. At least above Mesa and CommutAir. What are your experiences with them? Mine have not been the best lol

For regionals that still exist that I have worked at my list would be:

1.) Air Wisconsin
2.) Mesa

Air Wisconsin had its issues (as all airlines do) but it was a pretty decent employer, even though the pay wasn't the greatest. Mesa would be a very distant second on the list...although PHX itself is a pretty cool town. It's been a long time since I was there, so things may have improved.

I've heard good things about SkyWest, bad things about ExpressJet, and lots of bad things about PSA, much of it from board members here.

Although I'm used to using lido for flight planning, it is still very much a pain. Advertised as being more automatic, I seem to work harder correcting, checking, and tricking it rather than the glory days of SABRE. So trans states holding company airlines are at the bottom of my list but since I'm already in one it's at the top of my list.....and the chairs in the OC leave something to be desired but I like the people. I'd imagine skywest will probably get you to a major the fastest.

What does "scope" in this context mean, and what difference does the type of aircraft make?

I'd describe scope as the amount of flying and number of destinations an airline offers. This includes both domestic and international.

I included aircraft type to mainly reflect larger regional aircraft being operated, which might speak to stability of contracts the regionals operate under.

While I think there will be some demand for 50 seaters for a few more years, that market does seem to be shrinking. The dual class aircraft are more profitable and eventually the 50 seat market will shrink more with the adsb requirement starting in 2020 I believe. So I can see where aircraft type could be a factor on deciding where to take a regional dispatch job if one had multiple options.

Feel free to correct any or all of that if I am wrong, but that is my .02
