United Kicks Off Couple

Yeah this story is fishy. They say there was a guy sleeping in their row, United says that they repeatedly tried to occupy seats that weren't theirs.

Someone is....LYING.

Exactly my thought too. The couple is full of chit. No one, is just going to plop down in different seats during boarding without at least asking sleeping beauty to wake the hell up and move. If that fails, address the issue with an FA. I really hate the flying public. This goes back to my opinion that the passengers are actually the bullies.

Anybody who has worked retail knows exactly how ridiculous someone can be who gets it in their head that they are a paying customer and as a result can treat you like crap however badly they want.

Yesterday we had someone get irate because we wanted to gate check her bag since it wouldn't fit in the overhead, I did eventually get it to fit. Then she again started abusing the FA over not being able to put her second carry-on in the overhead with her first one.

She paid 900$ for this flight! she deserves to be comfortable! She doesn't have to follow the rules, she paid 900$

I didn't have the heart to tell her how many tens of thousands of dollars I paid for my seat and I still have to follow the rules ;)

I just don't get how when you are boarding, someone would stretch across the seats and sleep. In flight, possible. But, this idea that if a seat is vacant, it's yours is BS. Moreover, they claim they tried to pay for the upgrade...yeah, right. People are just unbelievable. The fact that NPR reported about it frankly proves the sorry state our media is in. It's all about clickbait, even for a news agency funded by listeners.

Do reputable news organizations exist anymore or are they all turning into People magazine?

I look for the modifiers. It's always "Child/Baby/Family/Mother/Veteran/Newlywed/Elderly/etc".

I think the story should read "99% of the people on this yet were able to find their assigned seats and prepare to depart on time, but this one couple didn't get the memo". :)

That's why this story doesn't pass the sniff test. No Flight Attendant interested in continuing their employment at United is going to allow this to happen today without waking up the supposed snoozing seat snatcher.

A far more believable article would have been "Man Claims United Caused Emotional Trauma by Interrupting Erotic Dream!!! *Click here to learn how you too can sue for millions!!!" or "Couple Removed from Flight When Flight Attendant Refused Bitcoins for Upgrade!!! *Click here to learn how you too can trick the airlines out of thousands of dollars!!!"

Soon in the reader's comments section: They won't take Bitcoins? Wake up, sheeple! :)

"Airlines Hate 'em! Couple finds one easy hack to disrupt the big airlines that will leave you shocked!"
Oh, that's much better!

Sounds like they tried to self upgrade, got busted and sent back to their seats, and then tried it again after the door closed and were a bit more defiant when they got caught the second time around because of “entitlement” and “honeymooners”.

I don’t blame United for a second on this one.

They should have drug them down the isle for old time's sake and a show of force.

Well… BYE! :)

Dear America, self upgrading is a thing. People try it all the time.

Yeah, I know you're used to flying out of Midway, but just because there's no one sitting in that first class seat when you're boarding does not mean its fair dinkum.

A couple days ago I was flying out of IAH and as we were holding at the runway a United 737 had to turn around at the runway and heard back to the gate because of passengers getting up or something. I was wondering if I'd see anything on the news about it but I think that was another day
