Apparently happened about a week ago. Didn't make the restriction at NUCIL, struck trees, climbed and squawked 7700 and diverted to MEM.

That's a nice FBO. Sat there for a few hours waiting for the Grizzlies to show up. Golden Tee machine in the break room and it was more fun watching the corporate guys contort when I turned the TV off Fox and put on The Kardashians.

Oh, silly old people. ;)

He should've just landed, then made a query to no one in particular on Unicom "was that tree supposed to be there?"

Bird strike.....might have made the news for being a hero. Too bad there wasn't a big body of water nearby.

There are some FBOs where the owner will not let them change the TV channel from FoxNews on any TVs that are in public spaces. I kid you not.

Well maybe a crappy pilot since he, you know, hit the trees and everything. But there's nothing wrong with flying an approach you know you're probably going to miss (under 91). Isn't that like 95% of training?

Yes, but visibility is controlling. So now was this 91, or something else (135/121 needs vis to start the approach)? And how would he justify landing out of an approach that was reporting 1/4 mile when 1 mile is required?

If the vis is below, for me at least, the requirement listed in the approach, I'm going to bail to an alternate unless there is exceedingly rare circumstances. And I just can't see how a King Air couldn't make the climb gradient. Something is amiss here.
