Greek Apache crash

OUCH!!!

My guess is the Greek government has plenty of money so this is no big deal.....................:sarcasm:

Not the first time for this accident dynamic, won't be the last unfortunately. At least they're unhurt. Lucky, with impact, underwater/inverted egress; lots of places where crap could've gone seriously south.

Ditching power on... Cyclic in direction of roll.... no I said roll dammit!

They are lucky they crashed on the shallow end of the pool.

At best estimate the 64 sinks at 5 feet per second and I doubt either pilot would have been in any condition to make an immediate egress.

Back Seater: PC, CW3 experienced maintenance test pilot, multiple tours, first tour in RC-East Afghanistan

Front Seater: PI, 1LT, platoon leader, first tour RC-anywhere

Both survived, front Seater spent about a year learning to walk again. CW3 charged with gross negligence in the resulting 15-6. Found at fault for full value of property lost (yes all 30 million). Out of the Army.

Air Mission Commander in opposite aircraft. AMC and PC orders revoked. Show cause OERs issued for those involved. Careers ended.

The front Seater in the crash was a student with me in the 64 AQC. Good dude, damn shame.

Isn't there a video of a Blackhawk in the Bahamas hitting the beach...literally? Not the one with the wives. That one really sucked.

I didn't want to "like" your comment about the Afghan RTT.

I suppose it's a good thing the first thing I thought of was Dunker and Ft Rucker.

I love doing dunker, I think I'm the only one though...

There are a few of us out there.

I don't think it's so much that I love dunker as I enjoy watching a bunch of alpha male badasses turned into whining girls because they have to go "swimming"....

Seriously...

No disrespect to my ATTACK!!!! brethren, but the 64 bubba's are the ones that stick out.. Hehehe.
Last time I went through (last month) there was a kid, who took 15, yes fifteen, times to get through.

As a recent graduate of HAATS I can see the Afghan Return to Target happening.
Here... I'd like to see what our battalion Stans has to say. (Former 64 driver. Bad ass stories from the '03 invasion. Some funnier than others.)

That crash happened shortly before we relieved that Battalion in country. The result was basically an immediate "no show of force!" Going out to the whole task force.

Honestly that would have been totally legit and fine even in hot conditions in Iraq but at 7k+ feet I don't know what the hell went through that mind to think yeah this'll work out. Same can be said for the ACTE video out there of the two Apaches running around at 200 feet and getting slow up next to mountains. The helicopter doesn't want to maneuver or hover up there, don't ask it to do crap like that.
