There's more to the story....as always.
I figured.

Aaaah...I get it.
I thought that was going a different route. The route of "well if I had boobs or a tan I'd be at a major by now!"
I was flying with an angry white guy earlier this trip. He was like "I'm sick of OBAP and WIA...where is the White Guy's Pilot Association."
I told him "Uh...I believe you work there already."
:stir:Wasn't United forced to hire more women and minorities after they lost to an EEOC lawsuit or something back in the 90s?

I think mainly you just need to be a decent human being who can kinda fly, oh and you have to try.No, man. You'd need both boobs AND a tan for the majors.![]()
Not to stir, I mean from a purely factual standpoint. United had an issue back in the day (80s/90s or so) when they lost some lawsuit under EEOC and through a decree had to hire (more) minorities.
That is the past...lets just stick with current news. Unless we are talking about playlists. I am all about music from the past right now. That's kind of stupid. Of course the past matters during discussions like these. No, you do mean to stir the pot. That is the past...lets just stick with current news. Unless we are talking about playlists. "Put in your app?"
"Nah not yet, maybe I'll start updating my log book..."
Discrimination is a thing that I guarantee happens but acting like a victim still isn't going to get you anywhere.

Not when the claim now is not EEOC. It is with respect to promotions and harassment. EEOC is different. I am curious how promotions are affected in a job with seniority, but I think that harassment claims certainly need to be addressed. No one wants to work in a toxic environment and if that is indeed happening, I hope that those bringing this forward are able to stop anything like that from ever happening again.
The only promotion guaranteed by seniority is the eventual upgrade to Captain. Everything else (checkairman, instructor, chief pilot, assistant chief pilot, etc) has nothing to do with seniority. Or rather, obtaining seniority doesn't get a person that position automatically.
So much truth to that. So many of the guys complaining about minorities getting hired are just looking for a scapegoat for their own lack of effort.
Haha, good one. It's sort of a pun... Discrimination... At... United
So do I man, so do I
Stroll the hallways and look at the new hire class photos at any airline. Hell, I could show you mine, there aren't a lot at all.
