P-47 crashes in Hudson River

We were listening to it on guard. Helicopter (not rescue) was on scene almost immediately hovering over it and relaying comms for the rescue craft. Don't know the outcome.

Very sad... I got to sit in that 47 one year ago this weekend at FRG and know one of its pilots pretty well. Waiting to hear more

Rest in peace. Tailwinds bud, I'm glad that I was able to have one last dinner you've made. I wish I ate more that night and spent more time with you. Tell Freddy he's an ass for me.

That's awful.

It obviously pales in comparison to the loss of life, but it sucks about the airplane too. The Thunderbolt is probably my favorite type ever.

The Thunderbolt is amazingly intact (World War II Era Plane Lifted From Hudson River 1 Day After Deadly Crash):

Awful way to go indeed.

One news article said the plane was going to be scrapped.
