Breastfeeding F9 Pilots Want Privacy at Work

They want to be able to pump breast milk while on the job....frontier gave them a room in denver....but it wasn't always convenient?! What......

There should be paid maternity and paternity leave at EVERY company for full time employees in this country.

But this breast milk thing....it just sounds ridiculous. Pump milk in a bathroom. Pump milk in the special room they gave you. It's a job, no duh that it's not always convenient in respect to your private life, that's why they pay you to do it.

This is a cry for special privilege, not discrimination. No, you can't do exactly what you want whenever you want while working you social justice entitled little brat.

What's wrong with pumping in the cockpit when nothing else is going on?

(Phrasing)

Honestly, it wouldn't bug me because I am used to it, but some might not be comfortable with it, and it might be hard to perform duties while doing this. It really is a complicated situation.

Ok so they have a room in Denver, what about other bases/domiciles? I am sorry but you sound exactly like somebody without kids or a wife who has had to deal with this.

Man, I empathize with women who have kids. At the same time though, why should a company be forced to cover the cost of an employee having kids? They shouldn't be able to fire them or punish employees of course. But to say that the leave has to be paid or that a company has to provide breast pumping facilities, to me sounds like something that should be handled by the free market. I mean where does it end? Next they'll be seeing the company for not having adequate daycare. If you don't like your companies maternity/paternity leave policy, go work for one that does.

I'm not a huge liberal but you sound like an old man talking about regulating women's birth control.

First I think it's important to point out the fact that there is FMLA which would cover this basis. But, there is certainly something to be said for how corporate America keeps women down and this is a steaming example of that.

Won't happen until the FFA checks EVERY model of pump against EVERY model of airplane that it may be used in. Can't just turn on something electric unless we know if EMI will cause a crash!!
The maternity leave isn't the issue here in my book, the inability to continue to work in a non-flying position with pay commensurate to flying from the 32nd week until AFTER the lactating ends IS.
On the other hand, it's a bunch of crap that women get maternity leave and the men do not get equal time off. My wife needed my help after the birth of our children but I had to go back to work.....

You want equal treatment, then so be it!!

This hardly the case. Many a career woman has made the CHOICE to not have children in order to not interfere with their jobs. THAT is their decision, as is having a child knowing FULL WELL what their company policy is at the time. Only after making their decision do they now sue to get the company(ies) to change just for them.....
Sad that companies do not provide opportunities fro employees to maintain their pay in alternate duties....

What if Frontier had like one men's room in Denver, and no other options, including the lav on board. Sure, you can take a leak on the ramp in front of whoever is watching but anything else is on your own time. You made the choice to eat and drink!

To all of the "pump in the bathroom comments" have you seen some of the bathrooms in US airports? Would you really want to collect and store something that your child would consume in what are frequently dirty and nasty enough to make gas station bathrooms seem clean?

These dudes likely aren't married. If they are, it won't be for long, and they'll wonder why they're getting divorced.

Wasn't aware having a kid was a necessary bodily function in order to not die.

Tough titties. (ba dum TSST).

Are people really pulling out the sexism card for "I should be able to whip my boobs out and pump in the cockpit 2 feet away from you."? Not to mention as creepy as male pilots can be... are there actually women that WANT to?

Because the company owns you, your body, and by extension, the products of your body - a la, your children. Right?

It doesn't take long, you'll still have time to read your US Weekly.
