Agreed and I even mentioned in my OP that most have paper out everywhere and WILL go to the first company that offers a position. How many guys stood in multiple lines at WIA? Answer, most of them. I know for a fact that my good friend @grkero had a fastpass for both DAL and UAL. Does anyone actually think that if DAL called tomorrow he or anyone else would decline and wait to hear from UAL? Not likely. My point still stands. The pool of applicants is not as deep and vast as these "HR" departments seem to think it is.
I've been bested.
I'll politely suggest my friend to call HR and tell them the internet says they've got factually incorrect information in their pre-fair briefings.
If you feel that strongly I, in no way, want to be a Buzz Killington and rain on that Parade of Positivity.
Ask @Aero Crew Solutions; while they have a vested interest in it, they also know these recruiting departments better than just about any other outsider out there, and they get their information directly from the source.
He's still aroundKit Darby has told me all I need to know.
Sure. Seriously, if it keeps you motivated and working on continuing to be a sharp candidate, I'm not going to do derail that train.
Unfortunately, a lot of candidates feel the same way and have stopped. You don't know how many times I've heard over beers about "well I was going to finish thise last few credits but screw it, they're going to drop that requirement I READ IT ON THE INTERNET!"
Or they bring their B games with "You're hiring, I have a ton of PIC I don't know why you didn't call me but you called a lot of my FOs"
If you're waiting around at the bar talking to no ladies expecting that one is going to walk up because you're one of the last guys left and who wants to be lonely on a Saturday night, the results may be surprising and disheartening.
Consider the advice or not. It's ok as those that don't leave a lot of slots open for my own little birdies Im trying to help fly.![]()

I know a highly qualified pilot for Skywest who can probably be at the major of his choice, wants to move up the food chain but thinks since there is a looming shortage, he is going to be better off, as a senior Skywest captain, during the inevitable seniority list integration between them and United. He's uhh... Run the numbers.
I am not joking.
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
You must be joking!

The thing I noticed, particularly on Friday, was the number of student pilots/new flight instructors that were there talking to regionals only. Just eyeballing it, I bet it was about 500 people. The current pool may be 11,000 or whatever, but I'm doubting it's going to shrink much for now. The regionals are hosed for sure, but I don't think the mainline carriers are going to feel it much, from a hiring stand point. Not enough to start hiring the less desirable in droves I'm thinking...Agreed and I even mentioned in my OP that most have paper out everywhere and WILL go to the first company that offers a position. Nope. Would a DTW320A that has a GS in PCS and uses a WDR for TKOFF PERF kid about this!?
He's actually a member of this community.
Like tried to talk him out of that but you know pilots when they have their kind made up. "i know you said it really isn't possible, but that leaves the door open to there being a small possibility. SO IT IS POSSIBLE!"
Good for him. More meat for me...
Exactly.
I love it when the vegetarians show to the the Brazilian Steakhouse.
"Just skip that table hombre, BRING DAT MEAT! BRING DAT MEAT!"
How was the meat, @bucksmith?

Do they come in with a seniority list, their name highlighted and say, "Ok... EVERYONE below this name should not be hired."?A lot of guys I've talked to really think the recruiting departments care about whether they are senior to candidate X or Y at their current shop and that that somehow plays into this whole process.
They don't care.
