Hawaiian hiring

Cpt Cook, I would say you could do asst dxer asap. I just read the "must get your licenses in 18 months" bit. So Im sure you would be an asset based on what people are saying about the current state of affairs there. And Im sure you could get your DX cert in just a few months time. So I would hit em up if that's what you want to do. Cant hurt. There are many former commercial pilots scattered all over the dispatch world.
 
If you already have your dispatch certificate I don't see why not.

Just an fyi based on my experience and perception but the mentality to be a pilot versus a dispatcher is different. I am not saying there are not good dispatchers that use to be pilots just that it is a different world, especially for a pilot from the 121 world. Also remember who a dispatchers customers are - PILOTS. So you would have to deal with - in simply terms - You!

Was just told by a current employee that the new hiring manager will not hire anyone without a license.

I would love to live and work in Hawaii. I would stretch the pay by fishing everyday and using airbnb. Lol. I am nomadic by nature. Kind of a military brat.
I'm not allergic to hard work and I hit the ground running. I'm fairly new to dispatch but I would give my left toe. To work at any major airline. Even if it's on planet mars. **with all do respect ** but I have air force training and experience. everyone is different and free to make their own choices for their benefit.

Nicely put Stunnershow. Kindly ignore the naysayers. You can spend a quick couple years there and move on. I mean, really, what rational educated person could
argue that living on a tropical island in the Pacific would be worse than Louisville or Dallas ! I guess if what rocks you is synthetic floors and 90" TVs then, yeah maybe HNL is
not the right place.

Precisely why this girl in Louisville stated that they couldn't pay me enough... Just my personal opinion based on current working conditions there. QOL is important to me.

I actually considered them early on, as a way to gain some international experience but the lack of relocation assistance (or even a plane ticket there to interview!), low pay in a very high cost of living area, serious staffing issues and unhappy employees was very unappealing.

To each his own...
 
Anybody know their payscale? It would have to start above 70k or more for me to even consider applying.

Edit - some cost of living calculators are saying I need to double my current salary to just break even there....yuck. Even 70k is almost welfare status there.

Yeah the last I heard the top out pay at HA is somewhere in the 80's...so yeah, not close to 70K at all. I will say this for Virgin America, they at least seem to realize the cost of living where they are located and have a commensurately high starting salary (not high, but enough money to rent an apartment by yourself on somewhere in the area.) Hawaiian doesn't seem to get this.

I have heard that they do now provide a ticket if you are selected for a face to face interview, along with some limited relocation money (not much, but enough to ship a car and some household belongings over.) Perhaps they weren't getting any good candidates with their "You'll get nothing and like it!" attitude towards potential new hires.

16 miles via LIkeLike, 20 via H3. Thus from Kaneohe Bay Drive. Different times a day will vary time to take. Years ago it was 45 min for the 7-3:30 shift at the airport.

Step 1 full dispatch pay is $25.05/hr.
 
That's only if you're a full dispatcher, trainees might as well bring a sleeping bag and try to find a quiet place in the office to sleep
