daily pic

Thanks. I've quickly discovered a limitation with this new camera: getting the right focus!

Since it lacks an actual viewfinder, I'm stuck with the LCD screen... which would be fine except that the autofocus tends to struggle when shooting through the cockpit windows (although I've noticed that with other cameras and my iphone as well). The manual focus is nowhere near as fast as an SLR with a mechanical lens. On this lens, turning it can either be zoom or manual focus, depending on which mode you're in.

When you're in manual focus mode, adjust the focus brings up a zoomed area on the screen to help you fine tune the focus. So there ends up being a delay between focusing, fine tuning, and then being able to frame your subject properly. Not ideal for shooting in a dynamic environment.

That said, I still reckon it gives me the best balance of size and capability at this price point.
Still want to borrow that camera from you, sir.

There were far fewer people on the beach than I was expecting.

I always thought folks from the inner-burbs we a bit off...are you sure you were reading that DG right? ;) Maybe NW bound? Section lines are pretty standard.

It also looks like Eagle River, but nothing like Fort McCoy.

I was heading NW, so the picture is looking North/NE.
